1098 Loss Of Power & Electrics Whilst Riding

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Serkta, Jan 6, 2020.

  1. Hi, bit of a weird one this. Riding along a dual carriageway at night around the speed limit and the lights/dash went off and I lost all power as I was accelerating from 5th to 6th. I am sure I could feel the back wheel lock but I guess it could have just been that the power had stopped so it was dragging.

Anyway, it all came back on almost instantaneously but obviously it was bit of a surprize to say the least. I have had the bike nearly 2 years and this has never happened and it has not happened since.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so what was the issue?

    Many thanks in advance. Cheers

  2. Battery terminals tight?

  6. Especially if you switched to full beam when it happened - dirty battery connections.

You may want to consider some Exact Start leads form @Exige

  8. I had a similar problem recently - Glen at Moto-V had it in for a service and found a lot of corrosion on the connections to the two relays that lurk behind the battery box. Cleaned the contacts and fitted new relays, seems fine now - hope I don't regret typing that...

  9. Relay here too....., new one, all sorted

  10. Might as well replace both while you're in there - they're not expensive.
