Just been quoted £375 for annual service from main dealer in midlands. Bike is 2016 on 1900 miles.Has 3 stamps and was Last serviced last year at 1800 miles so barely used in 12 months. Last service included brake fluid, oil/filter and master cylinder recall. £375 seems a lot for what will just be oil and filter change.Any recommendations for Ducati approved independent garages in midlands that will surely be cheaper than that? Cheers
If it is just oil and filter, it's quite straightforward to do it yourself, I've just done mine on the 899 for the first time recently and had no issues following the video. OEM filter kit from ebay for £24.95 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-Spare-Parts-Engine-Oil-Filter-Kit-899-959-1199-1299-Panigale-44440312B/182471055219?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Oil for £50ish https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shell-Advance-Ultra-4T-15W-50-Fully-Synthetic-Motorcycle-Oil-4-x-1-Litres-4L/163764422058?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648 And video (this is 899, but should be the same, there are videos for the 1299) The only other thing I purchased was some gasket paste that is used on the sump plug from the local Ducati dealer for a couple of £. RBW. *edited - just to add from a service record perspective I just keep the receipts, and update the service book with mileage and what I've done. As long as OEM parts are used I cant see an issue.
Oh, the other option is Cornerspeed, everyone rates them, and I've never heard a bad word. (search for them on here). They are in sutton in ashfield. http://cornerspeed.co.uk/ RBW.
My 3 Year Service was £325.00 at the beginning of December 2019 which was carried out by a main dealer. This included engine oil/filter change along with the brake and clutch fluid change and an MOT. They put the larger plate and reflector on FOC for me as I forgot to change it back before they picked the bike up. Also picked up and returned the bike FOC. (85 mile round trip).
Motul 300V is no longer recommended by Ducati as it lacks the detergents thought necessary for a road bike. Motul 7100 15W50 is new the flavour at my dealer. I’m still using 300V in my track bikes though. Andy
I wouldn’t use 300v in a road bike period. not only is it more expensive, it’s not designed for road use. We drop it after every race weekend... hardly ideal for road use. 7100 would be far better.
Think mine was done 3rd October and the invoice states 300V. Not that I'm bothered as it's my preferred choice but interesting to hear.
Interesting. I do 15+ trackdays a year and maybe 1k miles max on the road in between so guessing 300V would still be ok for me? edit, yep green def 300V
yeah mate but I’d definitely be dropping it every three/four trackdays personally. any oil for that usage should be changed more often not just 300v
Thanks. Will be ringing cornerspeed tomorrow and see what they say. MOT has ran out now so will see about pick up and drop off service aswell as it is 50 miles from me.
