I would like to fit a tasty looking clutch to my 749. Will any Ducati compatible clutch fit or would I need a 749 specific one? I've seen some nice clutches but not many for 749s or 999s.
Pretty much any slipper for the dry clutch bikes will fit your 749. 1098 uses a bigger centre nut, but some kits come with both sizes. watch the real cheap stuff on eBay.....it's junk. STM, Sigma, EVR are all very good. May cost a bit more but they'll have a good resale should you ever sell on.
There's quite a few search eBay or look on sigma performace, mpl, dukabike, ducati do a DP (stands for ducati performance) bucci one to be honest there are loads. They just arn't in the forefront for manufactures to advertise ,they seem to push more for the newer model bike
Getting new or second hand would depend on how much I could guarantee the clutch was in good order , don't forget it's supposed to stop your rear wheel from locking up , not such a problem if you don't thrash around or take it on track , or if you always have the habit of blipping the throttle when downshifting. Having said that I reckon you'd get one for £2-250
There are quite a few used on ebay, but guessing you have to make sure basket etc all ok or may be false economy
I just want it to look nice. I don't ride hard enough to warrant a slipper really. Can I fit a DP pressure plate to the standard clutch?
Yep. If its just cosmetic improvement, fit a pressure plate and maybe some stainless springs and alloy caps. Job done and you'd save a good few hundred quid
Bling, haha, it's not too popular around here is it! I've got a budget of around £1000 to spend on the bike and I'm struggling with what to spend it all on. £250 has gone on the re-spray Drinky has so kindly organised for me. That should make it look nice and fresh. There's a couple of spots on the frame that need a touch up but they're only visible with the seat off. I think the next noticeable thing is the clutch cover/pressure plate. I considered some fancy levers for a while because the finish on those fitted is not great, but I'm thinking I'll just fit fresh standard ones rather than £200 billet ones. Not really sure what else to spend the money on. I looked up ktech to see about new rear shock or front fork refresh but couldn't find much on there.
Suspension. End of. At least a refresh and possile revavle to get it working for you. Oh and a few tasteful carbon trinkets...with whatever is left over And trackday or two to use the darn thing as its intended
MR would probably rebuild the fromt, likley they would send the rear to ktech or someone. Not done by MR but From memory, mine was about £200 for full refresh and valve to my weight with ktech for rear 916 showa unit, and about £300 for front front refresh with right springs but no valve changes.
Ok others may slate me for this, you say you dont need a slipper clutch as you " dont ride hard enough to warrent a slipper",so dont waste your money on suspension set up, it sholud be fine as is. Unless of course you say it isnt. New pressure plate and alloy open clutch cover, dont go for carbon, not enough protection. Decent set of grips Your respray. New brake hoses , in a colour to compliment. double bubble race screen (clear) Alcantara Ducati Corse seat cover as above. And maybe some rearsets.
