Private Track Day

  1. So I’ve been looking in to the general costings of hiring a track for a bike blast with a few people cos generally I don’t like people and would prefer to not be surrounded.
Silverstone have come back at 24 k to 29k for the day depending on the circuit choice. donington comes in around the 21 k to 23 mark.
mans the others like oulton and snetterton bout the 10 K mark.
Not too bad really but would be a downer if the bike blew up on the first session.
The tracks must make some good wonga out of all these track days happening every year.

  3. Some bucks that

  4. ya think? whats the council tax on a bit of land that size? business rates ect?

  5. All true but reckons it’s good business if ya can get it.

  6. we used to hire Goodwood for around 6K "a while back" when it wasn't much of a risk/always oversubscribed but cost is prohibitive now with all the safety measures in place etc.

  7. 10K for Oulton is a bargain but I guess there are no decent dates available?

  8. ill take half the track for 5 k! but id like to be ridding in the opposite direction to everyone else for that sort or money.. and id like to borrow a bike..

  9. I'll take the other half, you borrow my bike and I'll borrow yours we'll only meet every 3 minutes or so. :D

  13. Suspect closer to 20k. Cadwell seems to be one of the cheapest circuits.

  14. so a fair swap for my 02 620 monster then!!

  15. I have thought about this before - say you could hire a track for 10k - does that include all of the marshals, medical staff, etc?

If it did (best case scenario) then the obvious maths applies - 50 people - £200 each - still quieter than your average track day once split into groups. Less people = more cost.

But as good as it sounds, I think in reality much less than that wouldn’t gain you anything in the way of track time - or fun! I don’t know about the rest of you but after a 20 minute session I’m ready to come in - and after a full 7 sessions in a day I’m ready to drop!

I think one of the great things about trackdays is meeting people who are into the same thing you are. I generally don’t like crowds, queuing, supermarkets are my idea of hell and don’t get me started on the London Underground. So I get where you are coming from - but at least at trackdays you can guarantee to have at least 1 thing in common with the people around you.

That being said - if I won the lottery I would totally hire Silverstone for a free Ducati forum day! (Terms and conditions apply) ;)

  16. Interesting to see what Anglesey circuit would charge and if you want a quiet track day do a MSV at oulton

  17.
  18. 9k on a weekend from memory

  19. The prices I got include all facilities cos without Marshall’s it would be pointless.
I was looking at it much the same as you think. I don’t like people around me. I used to private hire mx tracks for 1000 quid for the day and just let a couple of mates come with me. Was the best practice ever as you didn’t have to deal with morons

  20. Medical staff would be the issue. Don’t you have to have an ambulance on standby all the time?
