Here’s a question. Dog cages: I know lots of people use them during the day or overnight normally seems to be kitchen but, I guess if someone has a few they may keep them outside. Personally, I don’t think it’s at all acceptable. dogs are to be treated as family, even working ones to a certain degree. And lock your kid in a cage and the social would soon be knocking....
Agree don’t like them myself - but my sister has two springers and they seem happy to go into the cages ( very rarely shuts the doors ) Only time mine ever got put in cage was back of the car
I don't agree with cages either, the dog is part of the family and has free reign of the house. He sleeps in our room with us, but prefers his own bed to getting up on ours. Nasher.
I remember we used a kennel when I was young, and the dog had the run of the garden with water and food inside the dog house. In winter he simply lived indoors and the mess was put up with.
I hated crates (cages) with a vengence. There was no way one of my dogs was going to be put in a cage like in a shitty zoo. I saw them as cruel/punishment cells............ However.............. if used correctly (emphasis on 'correctly' btw), they can be a brilliant tool and one that the dog sees as its chosen 'Safe place'. I'm now a convert. The calalyst for me was a puppy that really struggled to 'get' toilet training and was still not 'clean' at 8 months old. 1 week of the 'Crate' method and she was 'fixed'....and with NO distress. Let me explain. I would never shut a dog up in a crate all day, every day. Or for that matter, all day any day. But, for a puppy at night ?..Brilliant training aid For house/toilet training a puppy (10-15 mins at a time) ?..Brilliant Travelling in the back of a car ?.. Brilliant (if secured) Used correctly, they can make a puppy's 'learning time' be so much more stress free and faster. NEVER feed in a crate. NEVER use it as a punishment. Our 4 have free run of the house and sleep in our bedroom with us. But, as puppies, they have each been crated at night (in our bedroom, right next to my side of the bed). Becomes unnecessary after about 7 or 8 months old. The problem then is.....this happens when I get up for a quick piss
Dogs Trust never put a healthy dog down. If a dog is on lifelong medication, they will pay for the medication, even when the dog is in it's new home. They value a 6 year old mutt the same as if were a champion in its breed.
Yep. I sponsor 2 dogs with them, neither of which can be re-homed due to health and/or behavioral issues, so they just love and care for them for their natural life. I also support the Border Collie Trust. They operate the same as DsT.
I have not long seen the advert on TV where you can adopt an elephant for £3.00. I was daft to enough to send the money....... ......fuck knows where I am going to put Jumbo, though.
The new rescue Staffy was collected from kennels this afternoon. She managed to open the rear window by standing on the switch, and jumped out as I was stuck in traffic in Hoyland outside a school, Luckily was caught, and I got her back (put the window lock on this time)
Just sent a message (in poor French grammar..) to arrange a viewing for this or one of her sisters. It was part of the plan for our move here but we thought completing major and time consuming works first was important. These little ladies need time spent on them to be fair to them.
