2003 Basic 999 with DIY recent service history 2013 to date... Full Main dealer service, belts and Valves.... thick end of a Grand. Does this sound about right.
I've neither the time nor inclination. There is a lot to be said for doing things yourself, however a Major Ducati service isn't one of them. Q. Do I have a stalker or do you work for HMRC?
Don't worry, you mentioned doing paperwork at the weekend so this time of year I assumed your tax return was being 'filled in' I have 2 unpleasant bills to attend to at 11:59 pm on the 31st.....
I did this a year or two back..... the HMRC system went down for a few days... gave everyone 7-14 days extra to put them in. Given we pre-pay and pay throughout the year, a very pleasant adjustment of just £15.97 and £30.96... Note Dividends are only taxed (again) when you hit the higher rates, which we don't.
Taxes are like a visit to the dentist, but without that nice clean feeling in yer mouth. Wow this thread went off course quick. Anyone with real world costs on a Major 999 service? @Exige you've got a shed full of these?
Belts and shim service could take anything from 6 to 10 hours so from about £450 to £700 just on labour at (my) main dealer prices. It's what I expect my 748R service to be. Andy
Depending upon labour rates, it's in the ball park. 999 parts are expensive, in particular the belts and air filters.
I pay about GDP 850 - 1,000 for major servicing for my 999 (valve check, belts, oil filter and proper run through. I use Pro Twins in Godstone Surrey. This is the in-line with what I know other boys are paying for main dealer services for 848's, 1198's etc
I had new belts and service done by Geoff Baines at Baines Racing, Silverstone last spring. 3.5 hrs labour, under £500. TPS reset and various odds and sods but no valve check so expect that would make up for the difference?
Bike had been occasionally stuttering on acceleration but that turned out to be the ignition relay on it’s way out. Geoff just checked everything over and possibly just reset TPS as a matter of course. I can’t remember entirely!
Yep - just under 500 notes for belts and service without the valve check. Had a new TPS sensor fitted at about 23k. I think that came to about £350 labour including £100 for the part.
My 999 had Pipercross filters fitted a couple of thousand miles ago, plus belts, oil and filter about 1500 miles back. Coolant and hydraulic fluids about 200 miles back, as well as a TPS reset and new plugs and pads. Only thing outstanding is a valve check and it’s not even due that quite yet, not having hit 15000 miles. I could change the oil, filter and belts before collection for the price of the parts.
Last year: 749R valve service only - £1350.... Heads needed to be removed to change some shims....ouch.
