i had Dymag carbons fitted to the 748 i had, and it transformed the bike, it felt like it had 10 hp more everywhere ( other then top end ) i also had a set of Marvic mag wheels for the 996, and found cracks in them, so personally would not bother with second hand ones unless supplied with a documented scan/ ovehaul report if they are older.
i probably should have gone that way when i built the bike for sure.. but i got the original showas fitted out with ktech internals, had the uppers anodized black and the sliders diamond like coated so i kinda like em now...
dlc is a good look and apparently slippy as fuck... cant honestly say if the dlc improved my forks as i had the ktech internals fitted at the same time but i can definitely say over all the forks were massively improved by the upgrades.. well, after Al at proteam dialed em in a bit better for me. when i first rode it i nearly stacked it 200 mtrs from my house due to the front being so stiff and locking the front wheel under hard braking...
And, if I'm not mistaken, you'll struggle finding 5-hole discs with the correct offset. FWIW, my favourites are the 10-spoke Marchesini, here's a pic of mine;
those do look fucken nice..really fucken nice... oh man.. i think i have a problem... im looking at wheels more than porn these days!!!
@chizel , how u h did you spend on one off black cables with white logo's for your Black & White 748?
it was so long ago i dont remember.. but i believe the price was "reasonable" (it may have been really cheap)
yeah.. the dymags dont really do it for me.. the spokes look to fat and again, im not a big fan of the carbon look.. it looks nasty like gold.. i know its a good material and i have loads on my bikes but its all painted so you wouldnt know...
