Bought this today but no idea where I'll put it at the moment, garage is full and living room already got 3 bikes in it but I've wanted one for a long time, sort of bucket list thing which I needed to get done.
Oh crikey, thats awsome. I am green with envy and would like to volunteer my garage . When you get bored with it in about 6 months I want first dibs.
I would be interested to hear from you Hugh about what you think of the bike relative to modern bikes. I have found certain bikes highly desirable since first setting eyes on them, ie B.S.A Lightning that I fell in love with in the late 60's and wanted one so much it hurt at the time. However, I have now dispatched most of the romanticism ,as the reality is that they are so dreadful in comparison with modern bikes in almost every aspect that I no longer have any desire for them . I still love to look at them but as for riding the things no way!
Nice and I have a solution for you. I can take 998 Bostrom off you Alternatively I think you live not that far from me. Maybe we could rent a proper bigger garage? You know with power and place to strip bikes. I am in Wembley.
Arquebus: I think you mean "rayguns", It was Velocettes that had fishtails as I recall:wink: Drinky: No worries there, I havn't got a carpet Crystaljohn: I'll let you know but having ridden a mates Z900 of the same age last week I'm not expecting too much. Luca: What makes you think I'd let you strip my bikes? especially my Bostrom. Everyone else: Thanks for appreciative comments, it's always nice when other people like your new toys.
Why would I strip the Bostrom I would just take it as a hole Maybe strip and barrow engine from tricolore
Well finally got to ride it after several months of sorting with new ignition, carbs and other bits to get it starting and running reliably. For a 37 year old bike it handles surprisingly well but with only 58neddies available it's never going to be a rocket ship - my 748 would rip it to shreds on performance but it's a lovely relaxing old thing and I'm really looking forwards to getting more miles on it.
Well, there are plenty T160s around with them..............just have to look on Google...........did people retro-fit them? Didn't have them on my Boyer Trident, though. Hughdg: You know what I meant by fishtails...........I couldn't think what to call them, apart from stupid. AL
Think they were retro fitted on the T160 as to the best of my knowledge they first appeared on the Rocket3 and early T150. AL: 'course I new what you meant and I don't think they look right at all on the later models but I do quite like them on the earlier models, each to their own I guess.
