Hi Guys, Does anyone know where I can get a new one of the these (see pic) white two pin connectors... I have been having trouble with the starter circuit and this appears to be the culprit. I want to just replace it with a new one. Cheers, W
I think you should be able to still get them from a Ducati dealer but there are other sources if desperate. ducati solenoid | eBay EDIT Moto Rapido near Winchester are contained within the above eBay link.
Cheers... I was actually hoping to just buy the crappy little white connector, because the actual solenoid is sound! The little connector on my bike is all corroded and holy unreliable!! W
I use Vehicle Wiring Products Ltd Suppliers of Auto Electrical Parts normally and they're really good if you need any supplies, although if you really only need a single connector block then (if you have one nearby), Maplins or similar is going to be cheaper. You're obviously going to need suitable connectors and crimpers as well, so if you've not for those already, then Vehicle Wiring Products would be your best bet. P.S Of you ever need to replace the solenoid then go on EBay and search for a good third party replacement one for an Aprilia RS1000 series with a much higher rating. They are the same fitment as the Ducati but heavier duty. I did have to change the connector to fit it though.
Sorry, misread post - I have never needed to source a new connector as I usually just pinch one off an old loom, but hopefully someone will come along with the exact replacement. I did go through this procedure for the small spade connectors on the exciter boxes so let me know if you need these. :smileys: I've hardly ever had any trouble with the original equipment Hitachi solenoid, most bikes I've had have still retained the original unit after 20 years with no trouble whatsoever.
probably still available via dealers:- Moto Rapido, Snells etc depending where you are but just for ref:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153376724133 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-S...021667?hash=item3b3074a6a3:g:WRMAAOSwRF1b6r6t
Thanks Chris but its the plug not the relay Think you misread again lol I asked Motorapido but as it is on the loom I doubt you can
it could take an hour but if you persevere I think you'll find one, or hope someone picks it up on here (again!)
not sure of the exact type, but have a delve around on here - there is at least one small connector looks close:-https://www.bikerstoolbox.co.uk/acatalog/Multi-Block-Connectors-p1.html hope the company hasn't folded
Thanks! Was trying to find the part number , hard to tell if the correct one is there Ideally would like to go an electronics shop , cannot think of any over here with connectors like this
i'm sorry I can't reference the specification for that plug, have no idea where I would have stored it, would have been a doddle 30 years ago. It's a bit like a Sherlock holmes whodunnit - you have to keep persevering picking up little snippets to verify the actual type until you have enough information to start really searching with confidence. Has the plug got any numbers or letters in the moulding? Re: visiting a shop - unless you have access to some really genned-up connector shops preferably trade, then I wouldn't bother. If you find them I think they will be online/mail order (hopefully).
Has zero numbers/ ref on it , but it looks generic in the sense , I have seen them used before just no idea what is the name of them
if I get time i'll have another go tomorrow. This UK club specialise in restoring japanese motorbikes, I feel certain they would find it for you:- https://www.vjmc.com/

That is a TM connector and won't fit the OEM solenoid. My solution for my 907ie was to buy a generic solenoid with a flying lead, cut off the connectors and use 2 pin Superseal to make the connection
RSOnline is well worth a look. Best not done on a phone or tablet 'cos setting filters, etc is much harder. You'll be overwhelmed with products if you're not used to it! Last time I visited one of their outlets they had catalogues, which I reckon is much better for this sort of 'lookalike' search
