848 Corse Or Not?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by RoadRunner, Jan 23, 2020.

  1. Hi,
This is probably a typical newbie question and many will be going 'Doh...' after reaing this but, the 848 I purchased in Dec '19 has Ducati Corse decals on the lower fairings which is no problem. However, I don't think the underlying bike is the Corse model? Were Corse varients of the 848 produced in 2008 and if so what are the differences?
Would the Corse model be evident in the V5 logbook - mine doesn't mention Corse. I'd rather know before some rivet counter starts pointing out what is correct and not (speak from bitter experience with BSA's!!).

Also, are Ducati fairing decals lacquered over?

So, sooo much to learn about Duc's and the 848.

    Cheers
    RR

  2. The log book/ V5 cannot be relied upon regarding model for Ducatis or any other vechicle.

  3. Corse 848 was a 2012/13 bike. 2008 bike will be straight 848, pre EVO.

  4. Maybe check with Ducati UK with the VIN.

Edit: Didn't see nelly's post above...as you were.

  5. Thanks for the speedy replies guys - thought as much; but hey ho it still looks good, if only a bit different! The Corse decals may be removed at some point to make it more 'stock' than something it isn't.......

  6. I had a 2009 848 non evo, 10 years ago and its the bike that got me hooked on Ducati.
I currently have a 2012 848 Corse SE and have previously owned the 2013 848 Corse SE. I have added photos below.
As far as I am aware, these are the only two 848 Corse variants that Ducati produced.

  7. Thanks Hannann,
Lucky you! My '08 848 was a bit a of rash purchase having just sold a 1954 BSA I'd restored and didn't want to ride; whereas I'd always wanted a Ducati.
And now I too have got the bug (not Coronavirus); just seen a 848 Corse with 3k miles up for sale.....soooo, so tempted.... but two new bikes in 2 months might upset one or two! Grand looking bikes you've had and still enjoy! Just love the Corse look. Thanks for confirming the info. Cheers RR.

  8. What’s the price on that Corse with 3k? I’m looking for one myself and the best I can find is a 2012 with 18k for 7 grand.

  9. Ummm...can't recall the price of that one; I looked at quite a few before viewing the one I now own. But can probably assume it was heading towards the 9 or 10k mark? But still hanker after one but have other projects in hand to spend money on ATM. Good luck with your search.
