Another more money than sense thread

  1. Went to have a look at an 848 corse yesterday 2012 plate with only 500 miles on the clock for £10,000,what a disappointment, the rear tyre looked like it had been 20 laps round a track and the tank is scratched and chipped :(
Not sure what the running in period is for a new bike but I'm sure the manual doesn't say rag it round a track trying to get the traction control to kick in.
Think I will stay clear of that one

  2. sounds like you've just saved yourself 10k :upyeah:

  3. I know some people would say sod it nail it from the crate but not me

  5. I've done that with all my JIL4's before now but I didn't do it with my Duc, given they have a reputation, shall we say.

  6. Shop in Bradford, got a bad feeling about the shop anyway

  7. If its in a 'shop' im assuming you mean an independent place, which means they've just added £3k onto what they paid for it. Either that or its the owners who just wants shot of it

  8. Yup the "shop"was an independent dealer,I would much prefer to buy the corse from a Ducati dealer ,I have Russ from Ducati Preston on the case, but there is one in woods of Abergele, just need to haggle on price :)

  9. Am I going to get moved to items wanted :)

  13. So it may have been used on track?! So what, thats what they are for, isnt it?! If it was raced ok may be worth a closer look and possibly little less but the its likley got more of the right stuff fitted.

The only way you can be 100% of gentle life is to buy new, with the price tag that comes with it

And why peolpe buy one of these things to pootle around at 6k astounds me

  14. ex demo...may as well have spent its life on track the ;-)

  15. Yea there there to be used on track but at least get a few miles on it and get it through the first service, just done my first 100 mile on mine and haven't been over 6000 rpm but as soon as its had the service I will give it some stick :) also noticed there's already a 2013 evo corse SE on eBay for £10750 with 500 mile on, looks like it could be a good buy

  16. I wouldn't buy a bike that had been used on track in its first 500 miles. Each to their own though.

Ex Demo would depend on how many miles it had done, what the bike was and who the dealer was.

  17. Thanks to Richie rich for putting a link to the bike I went to see in Bradford cos I nearly got excited again, don't know how to put a link on the post but eBay is advertising a corse se 500 miles ,unmarked for only £9000,same reg as the Bradford one which has chips and scratches on the tank, looks like it has new tyres, pristine corse se are not £9000,well not yet anyway.
Going to woods to do a bit of bartering on their ex demo tomorrow, wish me luck :)

  18. Possibly an ex-848 challenge bike?

  19. Good luck with the bike.

Ducati Glasgow had a 12 plate one in for £10k ish a few weeks ago with about 800 miles on it. It seemed to sell within a matter of a day or two. I can never figure out how someone can flog one after only 500-1000 miles. Unless it's a change in circumstances type thing. I am only getting a handle on mine now after 1300 miles.
