Just bought a new Isley Whiskey yesterday and wow.... https://www.smokehead.com So nice on the palet...A bit of fire to begin with leading to that trusted peaty smoke flavor and ending with a licorice taste. Very nice. Oh, and they have a Ducati connection. They had a bobber style bike made out of a Ducati...really good film should you watch it. Whiskey and Ducati's - Perfect
I've watched some youtube stuff from whisky fanatics and I'm seeing the same advice in lots of places .... Add a few drops of mineral water .... even if you like your whisky straight . It's supposed to release flavours and aromas that you won't get if you drink it neat . Fact or gibberish ? I know there are good few Scots on here .... what do you reckon ?
I don't drink much at all and even less so whisky, but I do like one now and then and I always put water in it - tap water is fine for me - don't need that poncy bottled, unregulated, overpriced Tesco's stuff (you know that Tesco Perthshire mineral water comes out of the same plant as Highland Spring ) so, I prefer with water but it is completely up to the drinker. Ice is fine if you like it that way - Local reactions are just that, the French will serve you two glasses if you ask for Pernod and coke and look horrified if you mix them
aye, too much snobbery around whisky. if you like it, you like it. but even the finest are ruined if even just a drip too much water goes into it. i guess you cant go wrong measure wise with a cube of ice. depends what you consider a measure to be. i'm a three finger measure kinda guy when you lot are buying. and always a splash of water (our is straight out the burn) or a bit of ice. for exactly the reason stated. any whisky buff will tell yah.
True enough . But now I'm in mind of that magical effect when you put the iced water into the Pernod .... and it clouds over , and the aniseed hits your nose . Similar effect to what they saying about a few drops in whisky .... .... or not ?
Whisky and water - Pastis and water, yes - both the accepted way you will get the aroma coming out especially with a peaty malt No cloudiness with whisky though - unless you are using SE England hard water from the tap
A dash of water is supposed to take away any slight anaesthetic. Ice is a no no as once it’s melted it’s too much water. I use whisky stones but as been said, you can have it any way you want. Put Irn-Bru in it for all care, just don’t ask me to drink it
I got some fancy whisky stones for Christmas - will have to shove them in the freezer for a try (in saying that they will no doubt get lost in our freezer )
Today In Scotland's History: (5th February 1941) The "SS Politician", loaded with 264,000 bottles of whisky, runs aground on Eriskay in the Western Isles. Much of the cargo is salvaged by residents. It inspired Compton Mackenzie's Whisky Galore!

" ( anybody remember The Fast Show ? ) Glenlivet Founder's Reserve a xmas gift , which seems to be some kind of replacement for the much-loved and respected Glenlivet 12 Year Old Nothing wrong with it of course , but I won't be rushing out to replace it when it's gone .... I prefer the peaty Islay malts
Also picked up these two. The Limeburners I have a bottle of but needs replacing, the Benriach I've not had before, so it will be interesting.
