Horsham Piazza Italia - 6th April 2012

  1. Good on ya, P ! :D

  2. Which route was used last year from Box Hill ?

  3. Don't follow me as I'll get lost!! Who knows the way? :p

  4. I didn't say that I didn't know the way, I'm just curious what route was chosen previously... Although, if you go too far in one direction you'll reach an imovable wet object...

  5. Cool I'll follow you then Altaian! :p

  6. Sure, the incentive to leave promptly & at a decent time is that it'll open up more interesting routes... Be a shame to just use the two main 'A' roads south... Numbers & late arrivals may dictate more than one riding group, but we shall see what the day brings...

  7. In fact this happened last year, we had a Guzzi group turn up although the later models are not to be toyed with, the earlier ones which took part did set off at least 20mins earlier!
Guy's can I just clarify, the point of the Boxhill meet is to help the riders travelling from other regions for the day's fun and frolic's.
If they have already ridden 50-100 or so miles to get to Boxhill, I would think their key motive would be to get to 'Motori De Marino's' get registered and refreshed and meet up with the crowd ready for the ride up to Horsham! Not to be taken all round the countryside on a 40-60 mile ride all over the Surrey/Sussex boarders with a good chance of getting lost and missing out on the day
I don't mean to sound like a 'Party Pooper' its just that the registration took a bit longer than antisipated last year as we had so many riders just turned up on the day, who had not registered and in fact I can remember some had to be turned away from the procession, because the Local Plod had stipulations on numbers.
This meant that all the riders not able to take part in the procession had to park in areas away from all the action etc...
    So the message is folks
Give yourself plenty of time, get to your meeting places with time to spare and please be sure that when you arrive at Pietro's make it a priority to get yourself registered first! you will have the rest of the day to eat drink and be merry.

Please remember if you are leading a group to respect your fellow riders capabilities on the road!

I hope you all have a Fun and Safe Day

Most importantly this is a charity event please be as generous as you can afford!

    Cheers Phil

  8. Spot on Phil :)

  9. Blyme... that would mean leaving sunny North Essex at about 6am..... I will see if I can blag a bed at me mates in Andover!

  10. only just picked up this thread - according to Google maps/directions, journey time from Rykas/Boxhill to Moto Di Morino/West Chiltington is around 52 mins and distance is around 28 miles. I just tried to paste the route but without success. If no-one else steps forward to lead the posse (all four of us :)) from Boxhill then I could do it. Last year I ended up making my own way - followed A24 until Washington roundabout and turned right and then turned right again when I reached Storrington as it was sign posted from there.

EDIT So actual depart time is 10.30 a.m. and the stipulation to end registration by 10 a.m. is not only for refreshment but also to allow/make sure that everyone has ample time to get togged-up and ready on bikes for a clean, organised get-away? With safety in mind and if numbers are around the same as last year, I guess the whole 'leaving' process could take 10 minutes or more from first bike to last bike. I personally hope the route to Horsham is as direct and logical as possible this year, as a large factor in the reason for the disjointed arrival last year was people not managing to stick to the designated route (me included).

  11. I'm also already registered, loved it last year (the weather did help that a lot), hopefully the weather gods will be kind again this year.

Will probably head over with the Burgess Hill Massive (whatever that means).

  12. I might wander into town on foot. Can't be bothered to get togged up for a ride of approx 1 mile!

  13. The ride out route should be well marked this year, so we hope no one will get lost, could I please ask if you do get lost then please do not make your way into Horsham until after mid day, this is due to the Church service that will be taking place in the town.

  14. Thanks Fred

  19. Good day to you All
Just a quick update on the Piazza
When you arrive at Hop Oast Park and Ride, could you please park up in your respective gropes, ie Ducati, Aprillia, Moto Guzzi, and so forth for the ride into Horsham,
The reason behind this is that we have been given a small window of time to have all the bikes and scooters into the bike area, and by having you in your gropes we are hoping to achieve this.

Thanking you for all your help.

    Fred

  20. Thanks Fred! ;-)
