My wife went to the market today to buy onions. She asked the stall keeper for some and he said he didn't have any. She said she really needed them and he said again he didn't have any. After she persisted again he said - " In tomatoes you'll find Tom, in potatoes you'll find Pot, and in onions you'll find Fuck" " There's no "Fuck" in onions" replied the wife . " I've been trying to tell you that for the last 10 minutes" he said.
A week, is that all. You did well. Messed us up for a month. A few days in bed or on the settee then the rest coughing. That’s how my Mrs broke 2 ribs, cough, cough, coughing.
Finally at last had the electricity people come out today with their spiking kit to address a surface power cable in the way of progress,it's a three man task with one man making a phone call to the appropriate person & with authorization for a controlled cartridge discharge.
Years ago when I was an apprentice we had to expose a large group of armoured cables one of which had a fault on it. After isolating the cable one of the Irish lads we used for this type of work spiked the cable using a file tang and lump hammer. He got the wrong cable and hit the 11KV HV cable. We thought a bomb had gone off but the guy survived completely unscathed!
Today we are going to Leeds for lunch, then picking up our grandchildren from school, then heading to see my friend Darren in north Leeds to pick up my snowboard bag and luggage which he brought back from Austria for me Oh and my Scrambler is being delivered in the next hour or so freshly serviced and shod with new tyres ready for the season
The problem is with electricity you just don't see it coming, there is no friendly warning & it just bites hard and fast. This is why they have the remote controlled spiking system in place today,to prevent any stupid mistakes with live cables.
The work crew place a appartatus around the armour cable, which has a chisel attachment like tool that is fired into the cable and this prevents any electric shooks to any persons, nice and safe.
Typhoons are back on exercise at RAF Leeming for a month so hopefully get some action in the sky’s above us when the clouds lift.
I've been to the dentist this morning for a check up & two xrays = £50,i'll return next week for a filling.
Been around for years. My Grandpa laid power across Africa, they had something electrically similar for the overhead lines. Here's an SWA or concentric spike.
I've just had a call from a recruitment agency in Manchester asking if I was interested in a role they had available. Told them that I would be if they had the right package. They've gone away to discuss it with their client.
Good luck Tel, I think the IR35 shitstorm is going to make a number of opportunities available quite soon
