Took the RN bike club (well, 5 of them anyway) from Yeovilton to Blue Anchor for breakfast, and then an enthusiastic ride back across Exmoor My ride from Devon to Yeovilton at 0645 was fantastic - dry empty roads. It's quite surprising how bendy the A38 is when you find it empty
Went to Ampthill bike show today with 5 Counties bike club. Chairman led the ride out and thank goodness for footbridges as he took us to a ford ! Wouldn't have been to bad but I had spent an hour cleaning the PP. anyway got home at 3 then cut the grass and cut up 2 sheds ready for the tip ! open garden in June so lots to do !
In the absence of road tax on either bike I have spent the day in the garden, not quite the same really, but a day well spent nonetheless. Roll on payday, and a visit to the Ace caff next weekend
Spent yesterday overhauling and sorting a little YBR125 and then today taught my missus how to ride it. Remember the thrill of your first ride all those years ago ??? Oh and sorted the brake judder on my 999s. Well pleased with the weekend. First track day in a little over two weeks at Cadwell. roll on summer....
50 miles.............no issues (TFFT!) other than cold......had a few loony moments to enjoy when nobody was looking (what chicken strips? can you see any?) AL
Large bottle of Tiger beer and 3 cans of Carlsberg export whilst watching Michael Caine as a vigilante ! Off to bed nite nite
Up at 4am to get a flight to Brussels for a couple of days. I was out on the bike all day yesterday - 10 hrs and several hundred miles - and I'm cream crackered!
I feel your pain, did 2 tanks worth of miles around the lake district on Friday and am still aching now!
It's a salutary experience, 40+ years, massive bonfire, skips, dump runs and all done...! Enjoy it while you can!
Took Madam to hospital for yet another test........ And another tomorrow......... I'm taking a camp bed next time..... AL
Weather today is fantastic, going to go do hartside, then the kirkstone pass, get the ferry across Windermere, something to eat in hawkshead and then just see where the road takes me. Was the plan... However, after topping up with fuel at 9am, quick blast down the motorway to come back into Carlisle and back to my house the quiet way the bike started making a few odd noises. Similar to when I had the breather pipe blockage so thought it could wait till I got home... nope. Back wheel locks up at 70ish, now I'd had practice just a few weeks ago with the chain coming off and locking the back wheel up, I'd also had practice running into a freak covering of hail on the ground a few days ago which made the back end swing out. So thankfully I got the thing slowed down and stopped with only a light sprinkling of poop in my pants. Fuel pump would prime, press the ignition and get a click and the lights on the dash dim a little, almost like its trying its best but something has seized solid somewhere. Got it recovered back to my house and started work on it. Never in my whole life have I been so happy to see 2 belts, ever! Just about to drop the oil and see what that tells me,sneaking suspicion that one or both of the pistons has overheated. Not ideal but out of a bad situation probably the best I could have hoped for, if I was going to fall in the shit, I'd rather it be feet first.
Look what I got... Actually it ain't mine, I picked it up for a mate who found it on a building site. But as he doesn't have a car it ain't going anywhere for a while
