You'd think that they have probably been in the shop at some point to scout it out. Worth checking any ndooe cameras perhaps?
The hole looks shorter than the height of a bike? Wonder if they only realised that when trying to get it out. Scratched V4 anyone?
Seems it’s a common theft ploy, and size is based on risk of collapse and big enough for a bike. Apparently last week there was a desmo in the spot where the v4r was this week.. Reading posts, no point in tracking down anyone as police have zero interest
That is a very good idea but unfortunately even if they do spot two guys in masks and stripy jumpers measuring up the wall and taking photos of the bike, the police will come up with all sorts of excuses why they can’t investigate it. Expect data protection and/or human rights to be cited (totally fallaciously) or for them to claim “it’s not a crime to measure a wall” (probably with a sarcastic and surly "sir" on the end, for good measure) in order to avoid having to investigate.
So basically they now claim on their insurance and just might receive the correct payout amount that covers their loss, but next years insurance contents cover increases plus extra security measures have to be in place at addititional cost to themselves.....not a fair world is it.
Bunch of w4nkers, the coppers too. One thing losing your pride and joy but another when it’s someone’s livelihood.
Eh? There won’t be a defence to make that claim unless the police investigate and arrest a suspect. In any case, as I’m sure you’ll remember from when you’ve been cross examined as an OIC, most defence counsel will put to you that you didn’t investigate thoroughly enough and in breach of CPIA 1996, failed to follow up all reasonable lines of enquiry (including those which might have pointed away from the guilty of their client), and thus there is reasonable doubt.
Thing i would ask are, Why bother having an alarm/cctv if there are areas that it doesn't cover? Who installed it and did the risk assessment for placing of cameras? in this age of camera systems i can watch any of several cameras in/around my property from the outer Hebrides, see when there is movement particularly at vulnerable times, and shout through them! If you know there are areas that the alarm/cctv doesn't cover why would you put your two most expensive bikes, V4R and a desmo, in that location? How are you going to see the baddies casing the joint around the expensive bikes if there is no cctv there? i know industrial estates around my way, {IIRC this is on an estate as such} run a consortium where premises A external cctv covers premises C front, B covers D rear, D covers A front ....and so on You get a much better angle of coverage this way.
