Porsche 911 Rip

  1. That new 718 Boxter 4.0 sounds the bomb. Bet they'll fly out the showrooms. I don't think maintenance costs on a 911 are too high. I spend a lot more maintaining bikes! Especially my 1098R!! Gotta love it though.....

  2. Actually popped into the local Porsche dealer yesterday, only to size up the cars as a few years ago i purchased a lovely Z4 with all the bells and whistles, the better half loved it, only problem at being under 5ft she could not reach the pedals, so that only lasted 6 weeks. So thought we better go and sit in a Caymen/Boxter, good news she could reach the pedals ok, bad news she could not see over the steering wheel, jumped into a 911 and she loved it. To be honest the 911 is a much bigger car all round, really dont know what to do.

That just about sums up my thoughts, 20k will get me into a 2012ish pdk Caymen. If i had a 911 it would have to be pdk and thats a step to far cost wise. Fed up at looking at autotrader now.

  3. I’ve not owned a 911 but grew up
With them as my Dad god rest him was Porsche mad so had a good few from original Condor man types to Kermit greens, pop up headlight wide bodied super sports to modern cars.
He only ever bought Boxsters for my Mum.

  4. I’d happily run a boxster as my every day car. My wife won’t have it tho. I keep telling her it’s more practical than the mini convertible she currently runs..

  5. Yes you do. You want to buy a 911 ;)

  6. Top gear last night. 911 looks so understated in comparison to the Ferrari & Aston.

And was easily the best car ;)

Its smacking how small even the modern 911 looks next to these other supercars.

  7. Small, and yet mine went 3 up plus luggage to the Nurburgring in relative comfort so long as the gangly teen in the back seat got rotated to the front every couple of hours. Plus, it can be thrashed around a racetrack on a Sunday but then it is also compact and user friendly enough that my girlf (not a confident driver) can drive it to work on a Monday. How many other supercars can make those claims?

  9. Nice; so is that a 996?

I'm just started to get interested in Porsche's and am thinking about one. Does seem a minefield though as to what to get - i've only today discovered a chart detailing all the different variants.

  10. Obviously budget is key. Do your homework before you pull the trigger. All the info's out there. There are a few Porsche fans on here so feel free to ask :):upyeah:

  11. Yes. 1999 Carerra 2 (ie: 2WD, not 4WD and narrow bodied). I bought it like that but I did change the wheels as I didn’t want it to be a GT3 “rep”. It’s easy to tell a real GT3 as they don’t have a sunroof, they also only have front seats (carbon fibre) and I think they also have a roll cage

  12. a mate has just picked up his new 911 carrera 4S. I have to say it is a lovely thing, i'm very jealous and he has very kindly offered me a go... "watch this" o_O. I'm looking at 996s on Autotrader (again), wish i hadn't spent all my savings on toilet paper now...

  15. Now might be your time. There’s a GT2 on eBay at the moment for £150k or swap for 500 rolls of Andrex.
