A friend had a daft old Labrador as a guide dog, called Vance. It got spooked during a storm one day, broke into the kitchen and ate about two-thirds of a Christmas cake. The cake of course had raisins in it, which are poisonous to dogs, apparently. Needless to say ... Vance was perfectly fine. There's one part of the tale I don't believe - spooked? Really? Likely story. Talk about excuses! Edit: Vance ate dandelions.

True, but it’s about expectations. when I was a kid, my Dad had a skilled job and my mum worked part time. We had beef once a week. If we had any other meat it was spam or corned beef out a tin. we eat a lot more red meat now. people don’t cook as much from scratch. When I was at school things like autism, asbergers and food allergies were very rare. Today, they are far more common. I would not be surprised if the cause is eventually traced back to food. big thanks to @chizel for mentioning bacon rolls and ruining my Sunday. I could murder a bacon roll. Cheers matey
It certainly does seem that food allergies & autism are increasing. Thirty years ago no one ever mentioned autism at least no one I knew ever did. Still it could just as easily all be a result of the radio active cloud from Chernobyl...
You might be right! But do you remember any of the kids in your class having allegies to peanuts or wasp stings? None of my friends ever had sisters & brothers that were unable to talk or freaked out by a lack of routine (autism). There was a hay fever kid who could never play cricket...
had a few puffy weazy kids on inhalers in my class , a few allergic to nuts and i lost 3 friends to various ailments, one of em being cancer, 40 years ago (i was 8 then) my step son has lost no friends so i dont think personal experiences shed a true light on things...
What ever happened to being ‘normal’. Or you got in with it. Some kids were good, some bad, some bright, some thick.
i was a lil shit when i was a kid but i got away with nothing.. i was always doing some sorta community service. dont get me wrong, i wasnt an evil cunt, just a lil out of order but i paid the price for it. . kids now (all us oldies say that) truely get away with murder... its like a badge of honor for parents to tell authorities to fuck of and let their kids run rampant... feral lil fucks... in my time id rather be beaten by the police than my dad find out id been up to no good...
And funny enough most fell into hands-on work or apprenticeships. Now, they wonder why a degree ‘value’ is far less
