1098 showa fork touch up

  1. when i took the 1098 out for its test ride i stopped at the side of the road and had a better look at it without the sales guy breathing over my shoulder.

i noticed a few stone chips on the bottom of the fork legs. is there a touch up paint for this as they are not just a standard black.

Any advice would be great. thanks

  2. Id guess just a matt black touch up would do the job.

  3. Could the dealer not do it, or might they be the best people to ask? Or was it not a Main Dealer?

  4. I have touched mine up a few times on the front edge where it gets stone chipped. I just use a Satin black from Halfords and you can't see it for small areas. Might show up more if you use a brush because you would get a much harder line but i just flash it with the spay can and it blends fine.

  5. it was form a honda dealer it had been part exd for a new blade i was hoping there was a kit out there for it. I might just see how much it will be to get a small pot matched up at my local paint place. Would be nice to get it looking perfect before hitting the road

  6. Best keep the bike in the garage once you have touched up th stone chips. That way no more will appear. An alternative is to ride the bike and inspect regularly. I would suggest evey half mile of road use, and definetley before crossing a County border. Collect the stones which were the offending items and gather an evidence file for use in a legal action against the highways division of the controlling council.

Or just accept that the japanese bits on the bike are shite............

  7. I understand these things will happen when i bike is ridden properly :( I suppose i could always treat it in the way the general biking community stereo types Ducati owners and clean it more than i ride, take it to a local meet and reel off sales brochure numbers giving the perception that I know what I'm talking about and never ever ever ride it in that nasty wet stuff we seem to get so much here in the UK.
