I'm getting seriously fed up with this bike. Will it ever just work so I can ride it or is it going to be one thing after another forever??
That. It's a Ducati. Since getting the 749, I think it's all about preventative measures when dealing with it.
Sod this. I'm selling it. I need to get it sold sharpish too as something has just come up at home. Once fixed, I'd like 3500 for it. Is that too much?
You will miss it. Promise. Get that fault sorted and you'll be fine. My first few months with my 749 were horrendous. Had it for a few weeks, had a clutch problem. Sorted, hasn't come back. Then I lost it for about 5 weeks in the garage due to an ECU fault. No further problems. It's a ten year old bike, there's always going to be a few age related issues, but once sorted it's a corker.
It's running one 1 cylinder, fault codes 10.2 and once 34. Replaced plug on front and, checked coil. Replace relay with genuine ducati one. Left it at MR to be fixed and serviced as that's where it made it to. I reckon either a single dodgy wire some where or ECU has gone. I've only ridden it 5 times since I got home in march and its broken down 6 times! Damn thing
I kid you not, when driving home the other day I saw a Ducati Monster parked in front of a skip. I nearly crashed my car laughing.
I got mine repaired by Avanti Race parts via Al from Ducati Pro Team. Was £299 and I think you get a years guarantee ( I may be wrong on that). It's probably best to borrow/lend an ECU from someone and swap it in to see if it is the problem. I hear that certain models of ECU from later Ducati models are "virgin" and can be used without needing to sort out the immobiliser. If it is the ECU you can pick up a second hand ECU one ebay. Saw one go for £65 the other day! I'm picking up a spare.
That's me and yes you do get a year's guarantee. If there is a problem with the ECU just return it to us (or via Al) and it will get sorted. Sometimes there's more than one problem going on (ECU, coils, connectors, relays, etc) so difficult to lay the blame at one single thing. Drop me a PM if you need any more help.

I'll let MR fault find, get it serviced at the same time and see where to go from there. Had loads of carbon trinkets turn up today too that I'll have to wait to fit
Hello chaps, I have listed my bike on eBay so if you come across it, I am the seller and you can read about all the things I have run through while I have owned her. I'm not telling you so you'll buy it (although you can if you want!) but so you can have a bit of knowledge on the bike if you come across it. Ducati 749S
This thread was timely for me went fir a ride on the MV the other day and lost a side side panel. I retraced my route and found it. The paint was badly chipped. So I got some carbon off cuts and wrapped it.
Shame you're selling it. Are you selling due to what's in the description or because of the "electrical niggles"?
I am honestly selling to raise money for a transit van and a MIG Welder. I would keep it if I could get the money another way. I'm getting out the Army to go it alone.
