Evening all - little help or any advice appreciated. Have had a deposit down on a 2016 dvt with 11k on it, 3 owners. The price is Good - at least £900-£1000 cheaper than comparable bikes elsewhere, but seller is well known for being cheap, and has decent reputation. In Prep for collection - a “small oil leak” was observed and has now been diagnosed (and repaired) by a third party mechanic as “a perished cylinder head o ring“. anything in any of the above info that would put you off? Haven’t seen it in the flesh yet, so might get there and say no way for some other reason, but wanted some additional opinions if anyone has any? Thanks in advance all.
Where is the seller? If they have a reputation for being cheap but decent then it's good they picked this up.
up north to me - I am west midlands based. They are my side of Manchester let’s say. hadn’t consider they might have just botched it up....good point.
Mainly showroom pics in fairness - cosmetic defects have been provided in detail (hardly any), but no close ups of the casings or cylinders themselves. Other than obvious wear and tear or glaring faults, anything more subtle I should be looking for perhaps? Wasn’t sure whether to be concerned about the o ring repair - is that a perishable item on that sort of mileage etc etc?
I think that’s my nagging doubt. Not far - not great at county borders but they might be a bit more east than Cheshire. Edit: yes in Cheshire.
Not heard anything bad about them - I sold them a 999S about 3 or 4 years ago, they gave me my asking price no quibble. A mate of mine has been looking for similar age Multistrada and that is one of the shops he keeps checking.
