Hi all, Have decided this year is the year to finally let my KTM990 SMT go. I've been torn between ZZR1400 (Had Busa prior) or a 1200 S DVT Touring. And yep the Ducati finally won me over. So just mooching around reading up on things while I look for my future bike! I look forward to bugging you all with daft questions this year! Cheers Fin.
I'd have gone with the zz14 or perhaps a newer 1290 super duke gt myself, have you seen how many "help my multistrada is fucked" entries there are in the multistrada forum? Welcome chap, have a good read and there are plenty of useful posts and owners comments on the dvt
This might be a healthy read too https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/which-1200-is-the-best-and-why.65847/
Welcome, I loved the 990smt and nearly bought one but was won over by the multistrada. I may still be in the market for one, let me know if you want to unload it, quite fancy a little project.
Did you actually took one for a test ride? Multistrada engine feels lumpy at low revs, well at least compared to 1290SuperAdventure S. Not sure why both are V2.....
Aww man dont say stuff like that lol it's taken me ages, and I still love the ZZR, You'll put me back on the fence Cheers for the link, I'll have a read through.
I still hang around occasionally, but find the support for the SMT was pretty lacking on the forums, I had an issue with the TPS on it, and got bugger all support. It is an excellent bike and I love it, just fancy something a bit more reserved for touring, while still being able to have a hoon.
Nope haven't had a chance.. Seem to be sparse up the North. I will eventually, from what I've read the lumpy bottom end was pretty much sorted on the DVT upgrade. The 1290 yes I admit does have the better engine, that one thing ktm have down pat! Just getting on the pricey side of things, and the monkey straddler I think is a better looking bike. Not that I would complain if there was a bargain one! Have you tried both out of curiosity?.. What did you think
