Ceramic coating looks best. Not heard about it on bikes but I've got it on my car and it looks ace. Works too- bloody witchcraft I tell thee.... no visible stone chips on my front bumper.
I’ve gone with both and still got a stone chip. Nothing will add a magic force field, both will reduce the likelihood though.
With paint protection film only the bodywork can be done - with ceramic coating all the frame , engine, forks, metalwork etc can be done as well. How would you compare the two and what would you do for future bikes?
Personally I’d do both again as the fairings/front inevitably take more stones than the side and even with ppf the front has digs in the ppf from impact. On the front hugger it’s gone through at points but the carbon is not scratched so the ppf did it’s job. Ceramic coating wouldn’t have saved that. Overall the bike picks up less dirt and is easier to clean, looks shinier and has to date no swirls. It’s not hard to apply and I’ve done pretty much everything that it can be applied to including the wheels. I’ve also got some ceramic spray type which I’ll use every few months for a light mist, and also does wonders on black plastics, windshield and glass. Easy to do yourselves, it’s not witch craft and don’t be suckered into the industry myth of having to pay some one to do it if your half competent. I’ve only paid for the ppf to be fitted, you’d be a sucker to believe the ceramic can only be done by an “expert”.
Just be carefull when washing and add some wax and ACf50. Its just a bike with couple of painted plastics bolted on, not a Leonardo da Vinci painting. Just ride it and enjoy...the more protection you add the more scarred of damage you'll going to be. In 1-2 years time you'll be able to buy second hand fairings coming of "race only bikes" for not much more than the cost of these magic products. Just my 2p....
I had mine ceramic coated and ventureshield on the fairings, I reckon it’s impervious to Coronavirus that bike
I'd ceramic coat it buddy......go to an accredited Gtechniq detailer who is authorised to apply Gtechniq ULTRA....this stuff is a truly amazing coating and you won't be disappointed....I have it on my vehicle and it still looks factory fresh 2 years after I coated it!!!!....this stuff tho IS NOT bullet proof....and will NOT stop stone chips....IF YOU WANT THE ULTIMATE in protection currently available the get XPEL Ultimate Plus self-healing film installed..( can only be used on the painted areas)...but this stuff is bulletproof and self heals if there are any scratches....NOT CHEAP but provides the pinnacle of paint protection.
Consumer type coatings can be applied by an enthusiast but the professional coatings can only be applied by accredited installers as an enthusiast would make a hell of a mess applying these type of coatings.
I was told that ceramic coatings wouldn’t stop rubbing from legs and knees etc, so I guess around the tank and contact areas ventureshield might be better? I had it on my 899 though and dirt got under it and it pealed after a year so I’d ceramic the front and venture the tank I reckon
Yes, I had Matt on a white 899. Found it was best cleaned with a clear supermarket glass cleaner and a micro wipe.
