Hello, I have been restoring a 1975 Mk3 250cc for a couple of years now. Today it ran for the first time and I haven't stopped smiling since! Just one issue..... The ignition light is staying on. Its a points model. Please can you advise what checks I can carry out on the cable from the alternator in case its just a wiring problem. Many thanks.
Welcome lovely looking bike you have there did you document the build with photos as we would love to see them
Splendid motorcycle, congratulations on your restoration. Looks like you have done a great job. Imo one of Ducati's best engine designs.
I've got a 175TS narrow case and on this and other narrow case bikes the ignition light is just there to indicate that you have power to the ignition circuit and it is meant to stay on all the time. It's not wired like a modern bike to go out once the engine fires etc. Pop over to Motoscrubs.com which is a Ducati Singles dedicated website and there are lots of helpful guys on there with far more knowledge of the widecase models. They also have a good reference section which has wiring diagrams and other useful stuff. It has a very poor search engine though which takes some getting used to if you want to find stuff in historic threads. Well done on the resto, looks brilliant! My own trip to this year's Moto Giro looks like it'll be postponed to next year now for obvious reasons. Might see you there though
