Good lad. Too much vodka and making an arse of oneself is good for us. I slept on the floor as the bed was to far away. Made it to the bedroom though so that's good enough.
made the bar top outta 2 pieces of 300x 35mm pine that I biscuited together and dyed with the brown mahogany stain that I used for the wood panneling and spindles, mixed with a little of the wenge stain I used for the shelving, hand rail and post. It all had a sanding sealer and 2 of satin polyurethane. it's pretty much finished with the exception of some mock tudor ( I guess you'd call em) beam which we will fix to the ceiling and I'm gunna spray the upvc brown or black. it's been the most fun job I've done in years.
Shindi, the chap who i built the bar for (and who unfortunately died shortly after we completed it) loved an antique and a bargain! so collected all sorts of tat, but a lot of mirrors for some reason....
looking at the pics of the bar for the first time in ages has made me a lil emotional tbh... shindi was my land lord, best mate and a proper asian dell boy, funny as fuck. we were always trying to rob each other!!!!
it was supposed to be dark and dingy, it was an old english pub theme... i think the mirrors were more for posing in front of with his pound notes... he was a flash fucker..... poor bastard went into hospital for a minor heart op (20 min procedure) and never came out. 6 months of infections and having body parts removed then he was dead.... cheery start to the day eh!!!! lol. sorry
That is Mt Hikurangi, an ancient volcano. In fact it spat all the rocks that my house is built on. Which is also on a volcano that was already there when Mt Hikurangi blew. We have a vast peat swamp in between the two which is full of massive 20,000 year old kauri tree trunks.
nice.. funnily enough i was last night showing a mate of mine (who loves a bit of exotic timber) some pics of some swamp kauri slabs that were carbon dated at 50,000 years old. i knew a crack head that was selling em for silly cheap money... i never bought any as i dont deal with crack heads but im kinda wishing i did given the prices now....
soz mate thought it was yours, silly question to ask if it was yours fine speciman like yourself needs to be checked out.
