What's your favourite 848 mods?

  1. Just got my 848 new and haven't changed anything yet, I'm getting the termi's in a few week but don't really know where to go from there. I'd like to change the gearing but not sure what size sprockets to go for and would like to improve performance and handling for road and occasional track use. The yanks seem to love changing triple clamp offsets and rear linkages so I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it works or is just an expensive way to ruin the geometry.
So in general just trying to get a bit of advice what's the favourite things you have done to your 848 and how it improved the bike, any guidance would be much appreciated.

  2. 14T front sprocket - better acceleration and much easier to live with at low speeds at the cost of a lower top speed
Dzus fasteners - you can get a kit from KurveyGirl for about £120 including shipping and tax - worth it's weight in gold - try removing the fairings and you will now why :) ....I think it's something like 11 bolts holding each of the side panels.

  3. Invest in someone setting the suspension up for you.

I use this guy near Leeds ALPHA SUSPENSION SET-UP - Welcome

I'm sure others will chip in with details from other parts of the UK

  4. Awesome nice cheap mod there. I changed the gearing on my gsxr and it transformed the bike I went one down on the front and one up on the back only problem was the speedo being way out and putting extra miles on, is this the same on the 848?

  5. 'peedo not affected :upyeah:

  6. Rear hugger. Preferably in carbon. Best mod EVER

  7. Excellent the front sprocket will be going on very soon. As for suspension I'd really like to get some ohlins on the front eventually just to match the rear then get it set up by a pro but that will probably have to wait until winter time. Hugger will have to go on soon can't understand why they don't have one standard.
Just out of interest where do these bikes take the speedo reading from?

  8. Sigma slipper clutch and ohlins suspension all round. Both allow liberties to be taken on road or track.

  9. Front wheel sensor still I think

  10. So I need to wheelie everywhere to keep my miles down, I'm thinking lower gearing means more wheelies so this mod will reduce the mileage on the bike ;)

  11. May be the rear actually...cant remember...its not pff the fromt sprokext like a lot of iL4s anyway

  12. Sensor is mounted on the rear caliper hanger bracket jobbie.

  13. Slipper clutch. One of which I'll be selling in the very near future. Defo go to 14t on the front. I found it made the bike a lot more responsive at lower speeds. And as others have said, get your suspension set up for you. If you do any riding at night well worth doing a HiD conversion, or at least upgrade the lamps as the standard ons are poo!

  14. Oh we'll that's the wheelie theory out the window but at least the speedo will be fine. Which slipper clutch are you running matt, my dealer recommended I try it on track before changing to a slipper clutch

  15. Got me thinking about what is fitted to mine;
carbon seat, swingarm cover, exhaust covers, hugger (look nice but little protection function)
full case, fork and frame slider protection
ttx shock and ohlins forks (sublime handling)
QA throttle (which is way too heavy - must sort that for Donny)
sigma slipper clutch - why have I not had one before?!
aftermarket levers (much better looking and easier to adjust on the run)
race pads (terrible on road until a few heavy braking but great on fast rised and track)
high screen (makes it easier to maintain higher speeds without wind blast)
Ti caliper bolts (the std ones are too long for Ohlins forks and was as cheap as buyng the 1098 spacers!!)
stomp grip (great for road a track)
Full ecu custom map (super crisp and makes fair it more power)
Akro slip ons (sound and look the best!)

never had a bike with so much changed before!

  16. Revelation. Not a string enough word. On the road as much as track. Not the anti hopping stuff, just how controlled it makes using engine braking. Rouandabout at 60 in top cruising, brake, down 4, dump clutch, ride off. Awesome

  17. Here is my list of parts changed, I think that's everything !!

Would 'like' front Ohlins and a slipper clutch but need the pennies for the holidays. I can get a Ducabike slipper clutch at a good price but will see if there are any cheapies used ones that pop up from time to time.
