I believe that has been the case in Germany for years (certainly cars) and here I've often wondered about the old practice of recon engines and VED rates. If you were to replace your knackered 1.6 8V shitbox with a recon 2.0 16V 'Gary-boy' what would DVLA say (you are supposed to inform of engine number changes I know)
I only knew that from my RS 2000 days where German cars used to blow up on the autobahn when the standard radiator couldn't cope with 30 degC and flat out only factory upgrades from new were permitted I believe. I guess you know the car you buy from Germany will be standard
yes,i saw that mate i will get on it one day for sure... the focus at the min is getting a few roadworthy, central london roadworthy will be after and probably only for one bike unless its extremely easy!
It's our back up vehicle if the van needs to be in the shop. We've done full AC system installs out of it... huge boot... I think the only bigger one would be on an old Citroen.
buy an alfa, twice the car for half the money. german cars are thriving on a reputation they had 40 years ago. alfa's are the opposit.
They’re a bit fragile though aren’t they? My dad had a minor prang in an Alfa about 10 years ago and it looked like what was left of Qasem Solameni’s car.
Yeah, but this was kind of extreme and he had only tapped the rear end of a van at about 20mph terminal speed. He sent me a pic - I will post it if I can find it.
I guess the more damage there is to the exterior the safer the occupants are - always looks like Alcan foil were the panel suppliers though
Alfas are extremely safe my beautiful 145 cloverleaf back in the day spent so much time in the workshop there was no possible way I could crash it !! The best thing about that shit heap was the brand spanks new Suzi K1 my solicitor got me as compensation for the hassle of owning it !
i'm the local alfa guy. with five years expeiriance with a german car speicalist. while i drive fiats and alfas. i encourage folks to by german. i have bills to pay.
