I got an 848 in 2008 and then the evo in 2011. In my experience the best things to do are ...... 1 get the suspension set up for you 2 adjust the gearing ....I did the 41t rear sprocket mod, but understand a gearbox sprocket change can also be effective after that...anything goes
There's some good list of mods here I've got some catching up to do did u need to change triple clamps to get the ohlins forks in?
Just the bottom yoke, although some of those off set billet ones look the danglies. But I'm happy as is for now...well other than I want a set of carbon wheels and carbon race airtubes lol
I'm currently running a DP slipper. As bradders says, just drop it down the gears and let it do its thing! Love it, I'd never go back.
I love the Termis on mine but there are a few mods that I am very keen to make. Lower the gearing. Pazzos. Slipper Clutch. I was going to go the larger rear sprocket and new chain route, but I am thinking after reading this that I'd like to just get the smaller front sprocket and do it now. Then change the chain and rear over the winter. Just because I'd heard it was "better" for the bike to change the rear rather than the front due to wear. My question though - is it a bastard getting the OE front sprocket off? I really want to do this soon but not if it's a massive hassle. If it is, I'll hang off until I have more time.
I was thinking do the front so I don't have to buy a sprocket carrier for the rear and front sprocket is about £13 I couldn't imagine it being a big job I managed on the gsxr a good service manual works a treat
Aye, I think it should be easy enough but thinking about it, it's the chain that's my worry with this eccentric adjuster. I don't want to mess up the ride height by slackening the chain off then putting it back and maybe getting it wrong. Is this a daft thing to worry about? I've only ever had dual sided swingarms before so they are easy to "understand". I've mailed the shop for a price, I think it's about £15 like you say, so it's a no-brainer really. But if it's a whole evening to do I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to swap it.
Not sure about that chain adjuster either ill be honest I was thinking about cheating and asking the dealer to put it on at the first service if its only a few quid extra
That's what I was gonna do but I decided to run it for a couple of months as stock and see if I really wanted to do it. I'm now not going to need it serviced for a wee while so I guess I'll do it myself. I can always ask them for advice I guess! Unless I can get it to them next weekend for an hour... There's an idea in fact.
Its easy enough, well on single swingarm anyway, as you will need to adjust chain anyway. So bring it forward, remove retainer bolt then pull off, replace with 14t, tighten and set chain. Then ideally reset the ride height...if you have adj ride height bar. Which reminds me I have one of those fitted to
Yeah... getting the sprocket off and buggering about with the ride height were my worries. I think I'm going to try and get it done by the dealer next Saturday. I'd feel happier that way. Just with the bike being so new and these wee unknowns I think it's a safer bet. Ride height adjuster is on my list to change too - I forgot to add it above.
How's your bike feel now it's got a few mile on Andy I've done 250 mile now it feels a bit gutless but I'm guessing that's just because its new and I'm not using enough revs yet
I don't mind the mirrors they give a brilliant view of my elbows, I still haven't worked out how to position myself to actually see what's behind
