How Would You Raise The Height Of This Chair?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by wroughtironron, Mar 16, 2020.

  1. Bought this chair from the British Heart Foundation shop in Pontefract today, but it's about 3" too low.

I don't want to fit casters as knowing my weight, they would snap off in minutes.

Looking for an easy fix (which doesn't include shortening my legs or lowering my computer desk) - so any sensible (or insensible) ideas ?

  9. Rub off the varnish. Carefully rub rooting powder into the bare wood. Stick in a grow bag and keep well watered.
Once the legs have grown to a suitable length carefully whittle the legs to the desired height.
    Voila.
    Here to help ;)

  11. Are you certain it's not height adjustable already and just set at it's lowest? What are the knobs on the side and at the front for?

  12. There is one knob (apart from me) Paul, and it fastens the recliner function. - No height adjustment on the damn thing (the joy of EBay)....:(

  13. :(

  14. Not a threaded pole that adjusts as it rotates ?

  16. Sadly no - it rotates but nothing more than that :(

  17. Does the seat pull up out of the base?

  18. Ok. How’s about getting some 3mm plates fabbed up? Same bolt holes as the wooden feet and drill and bolt through the centre part.

  19. Are you sure it doesn't adjust :bucktooth:

Take a picture of the underside in the centre of the legs where they converge :eyes:
