Thinking of going back to a BMW 1200GS. Nothing wrong with the Multi it's just me liking to have a new bike each year. So a 1year old as new S touring in red with 1100 miles available.
Good luck with that. You may find the BMW unsatisfying after the Multi. Although for 1100 miles per year, it may not make much difference.
I would have another 1200GS if I had the dosh - could not get on with the Mutley - now where is that rainbow ??
Rich, from your post saying going back to a BMW GS I assume you've had one before. Well mate, you're in for a pleasant surprise...the new GS is a much better bike that the previous versions in just about every way you can think of. What would you miss from the Multi? The Multi is slightly more flickable thru' the twisties and has more bhp but the new GS is way better in those respects than the old versions and in Dynamic mode is brilliant if you're in the mood for fun.
Had 4 GS's but allways wanted a Ducati. I had one, done that now, so thinking of going back to my 1st love. Have not tried the new LC yet as I do not want to get all excited. I know it will be good but I need to try and sell the Multi first as SWMBO is not happy at me giving another lump of VAT to this government.
If your over 50 and like dressing up like an Enduro rider but never actually go anywhere near any green lanes then go for it!
I have a GS itch that needs scratching, but having been a Ducati test pilot with the 2010 Mutley, I won't be jumping into a brand new bike again until the niggles are ironed out. Plus, the new one needs to be a damn sight perkier than my mates 2005 model.
Let's be honest though, it's bloody ugly and boring! Although a great bike if used for what it is designed for, however how many are?
Why don't you try a Triumph if you fancy a change and keep some money in the Uk ! BMW itch, scratch it off the list. :biggrin:
I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the Multi boring? I don't think so..... And I do own a Multi, I looked at all the 'alternatives' and the only one that came close for my needs was the TEX1200, but even now when I look back I know I made the right decision. For weekend blasts with the lads, cutting around in town and even two up touring the Multi does it better than the competition in my eyes, if you wanna go off road then it's a different story but I don't, I'm a happy man!
Cant imagine the Bimmer will be either, but it will be very efficient. As is the Multi. No such thing as a boring bike imho...look at how they race CB500s?!
I am going back to a gs adventure as i have comfort issues on the multi. Shame but if it hurts whats the point. i do like the gs, it can hustled round b road corners as quick as a multi. The new water cooled is supposed to be a big advance but im sticking with what i know. So, heads up- if anyone is after an immaculate red 2010 s touring with 4k miles and 11 months ducati warranty left, its likely to be on ebay next week, as im px-ing on tuesday.
Ha no, 41 and can row 10k in 40 minutes in the gym...give it a go! i broke some bones in my right hand a few years ago , most bikes just dont work for me now.
Not had a new multi, but the old one was one of he least comfy bikes I ever owned. The 1200GS was the most.
