MOT tomorrow. Just been out for some fresh fuel and a steady road test. Roads which are normally frustratingly busy were quite empty
I've got a couple of bike services and MOTs coming up, so as long as the (bike) dealers are open I'll be taking the bikes in. Until I'm told I'm not allowed to ride I will do so (for my sanity more than anything else). There's always a risk attached to biking but at least there should be fewer duffers on the roads because they are self-isolating. I wonder what's going to happen when our average driver's supply of coke/skunk dries up!
If you ride safely and not like a tool, it's about the only freedom you might enjoy for now, as change is in the air in terms of where we will all be in a few weeks.....locked inside I fear.
Even if a lockdown, are we not allowed to go out to buy food and other essential stuff? Just go on the bike...the long way round...and take a small bag
I had this thought last night as well. I am out on the bike tomorrow. You can have an accident anywhere (my last two have been walking the dogs - one snapped tendon in 2014 and a broken elbow earlier this year). Prior to that it was a fall from a ladder in 2012. Pani R for me tomorrow.
I`ve given this a bit of thought and can I change my vote to "selfish, think of others at this time." It`s bang out of order you going for a ride, you should be thinking of others less fortunate. My bike is still not ready and you are gallivanting about, enjoying the sunshine and hopefully empty roads and I`m, well, not! Bloody hates you I does Hope you had a good `un
Ride away Paul, we got put under house arrest last night but you can still ride/drive get petrol and take public transport. Go figure!! New bike got dropped of yesterday so I'm going to be out and about for sure, selfish or not.
I will be out if I get the chance. I wonder how many people will be injured doing DIY while self isolating and need hospital treatment?
We’ve planned a last hoorah group ride for Sunday. Was supposed to end in a meal but all restaurants closed bar take away so we’ve decided on fish & chips somewhere coastal.
The climbing community has been asking the same thing. I'd say more likely to have an off on your bike than be injured climbing cos of the other road users. Other peoples' perspective may differ... No need to discuss
Go enjoy the ride paul coronavirus is more dangerous to someone of your age Only messing dude hope you had as good a spin as I had !!!
Well, I did go out, left before most replies on here. Have to admit though I did feel slightly guilty. What was going through my head was not just that if I had an off I’d be a burden on an already over stretched health service but - again being selfish - it might take hours for an ambulance to get to me, assuming there was one available at all and that is actually a serious consideration. Anyway I took the new to me 22 year old ST as the Monster is in pieces part way through a service. ST = staid tourer - not. Sure it’s not as fast as the Monster but I have to admit I was shocked when I saw the size of the chicken strips when I got home . it sure does go round bends well. Many may laugh at those chicken strips but for me I’m chuffed.
They will be making Cops redundant soon, no pubs n clubs to fight in, no one on the roads to chase, self isolating burglars can’t attend burglary’s, mind you having said that I guess there’s supermarket fights to attend Too and An increase in domestics disputes coming up... x
I’m going out for a ride. Empty roads and I could do with getting out. Despite everything my wife and I are doing pretty well.
