The tank is really small on the 1098 thou, its 10 litres in the top, with 4 in reserve. That coupled with a thirtsy little engine means plenty of visits to the station
ah that explains it then - thanks it is still worse than my 748 - that does 120 before light on time !
Tank was 15.5 litres on the 1098 and the 1198...and the 848 come to that. Only bikes with an 18 litre tank were the 1198SP and SE and the 2013 848 Corse SE as far as i am aware.
managed another run today mileage seems to be rising ,got 97miles,86miles.93miles till the light!!! was on my own and mutch more spirited riding on this great day doesnt make sence i know . this is my third v twin in ten years and they were all thirsty just not with small tanks so think i could live with 120 average till petrol station stop . arse gets numb by then anyway well was today thanks for all your help think im going to save for a bigger tank one day
depsite the crap fuel consumption i still want to belong to the 1098 club some day in the not too distant...the frequent stops for fuel dont bother either because my bladder fills faster than the tank empties.
it is rather annoying that as soon as you fill up your thinking about your next fuel stop, i think ive noticed a low 70's mile to reserve light before, ive also gone into the 80's as well, its a pain in the ass, and im not enjoying the bike as much due to this, another 20 miles is all it needs, its a pain in the ass for others riding with you as well. Ive also noticed that working out on fuel consumption to tank size, you should get up to 120 to a tank, based on 15 litres? as most times i fill up its only about 10-11 litres, as soon as the light comes on i dart into the next station justin case, so i guess im filling up to soon, its always a unenjoyable gamble
My 748/1098 has the 916 17L tank . Will do 110 miles from full to "oh shit".... DOn't ask how I know this...
