Hi All, After Some Advice

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Aki, Apr 1, 2020.

  1. Hi all, I hope every one is well and staying safe!

I'm in the market for a 848 evo. I have found two and I want advice from the more experianced Ducati riders.

    1. Ducati 848 evo 2011 (Black?) 2,600 miles no service history one MOT done at 2600 confirmed on website . Few minor scratches £7500

    2. Ducati 848 evo (white/red) 7,800miles 6 owners 6 service history stamps 2013 reg same price £7500.

So my question is without a service history book should I completely disregard the black one? Or with such a low mileage should I just be extra vigilant?

    Thanks

  2. Do you know who the supplying dealer was on the 2600 miler - they may have the service history on file and you can get a new book stamped up  What does it's tax history show?

  3. Thanks for getting back to me.

It seems that it's one owner then sold it to superbike factory. I have just checked the tax it isn't taxed however I found out the following:

Date of first registration: August 2011
Date of first registration with DVLA: December 2019.
    Mot running out October 20

  4. Neither are exactly high mileage so I know where I’d be looking, but as long as you can confirm the mileage with MOTs etc, I’d not right that one off either. Welcome BTW, love the look of the evo

  5. Welcome to the forum

  6. Thanks for the welcome mate.

It looks like it was purchased, stored for some years and then taxed and MOT'd for a few month then stored again. Only has one MOT in its history. Yeah they are beautiful looking :D

  7. Thank you for welcome :)

  8. Welcome Dave

  9. So it could have been a race bike / track bike - if not an import. Only MOT'd to allow registration process. I see it failed the MOT but you can't check what it failed on without the log book...

  16. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and advice given. Well @bettes I couldn't resist I put down a deposit on the 848 Evo Corse in Manchester!!! ;):D.

According to them Absolutely mint and belonged to one of the mechanics dad there. Has had a few major services in the past and just had one including new tires and doesn't need anything doing it, ready to be driven away according to Mike (Sales consultant).

In all fairness the price seemed reasonable given year and condition along with the service history.

  17. I saw the figure £7500 in there, for that money buy an 899.

  18. Good for you mate! Let us know how you got on!
I used to have a basic 848 and that was a cracking bike! That colour scheme is up there with the best of them imo.
