  1. That's quite far from my house though... bit impractical for a daily ride.

  2. Ah, but that's people not cyclists... ;)

There's a good chance some of these berks are cyclists, but the common root is that they're all people. :)

  3. No, just stupid :)

  4. This particular group are a tough bunch, anti social behaviour is in their blood.
They don’t care what society thinks of them.
They ain’t going to play by the rules.
They like to stand out from all the normals, wear outrageous clothing hand around in groups causing general mayhem wherever they go, sticking it to the man!

    Bloody Bikers, eh!
    :)

  5. no, because of carbon emissions , they are doing the same, but with chemicals, its called covid-19 you may have heard of it?

  6. There is no compulsion to do so, common sense would say they would. However each cyclist will make up their own mind as to what they feel safe doing. Some cycle lanes which may well look safe to you as a driver are considered dangerous to cyclists.

  7. More dangerous than the open highways where a car, bus or wagon could hit them quite easily?

  8. They don’t or at least I don’t, it may well be they stop pedalling to slow down a little anticipating your overtake. To be perfectly honest most cyclist with a car close behind will either be waiting for you to collide with them, throw something at them, have someone lean out a window in an attempt to push you off or some other act of rage. All of these I’ve experienced as a cyclist.

  9. It depends on how the cycle lane is designed, if a motorcycle, car or lorry overtakes in the prescribed manor the cyclist should be perfectly safe. Unfortunately these days everyone seems in a rush to be somewhere and finds the cyclist to be a nuisance, same goes for mopeds too.

  10. If you’re catching cyclists at 12 mph they ain’t trying so hard. I remember that next I’m on the A14 when farmer piles is doing 30 on a dual carriageway ;)

  11. Groups of cyclists don’t single out as it presents a longer target, you should be overtaking on the other side of the road hence why groups bunch up 2 abreast if 8 cyclists single out it encourages someone to squeeze close to them.

  12. They use duel carriageways cos they be thinking it Sooty coming through and want to be ready for the fisticuffs

  13. Some cyclists really do give the rest a bad name.

I say some, it seems like all of them, but I’m sure it’s not.

  14. Not from my experience - they block the road on purpose. If I am out on my bike (jeans and t shirt to the pub cyclist) I make sure I am out of the way. 2 and 3 abreast in a group deliberately slowing traffic is appalling. These 'cycling clubs' all seem to do it and are pathetic.

  15. It’s not ridiculous, singled out they are a longer hazard.

  16. 99% - see above, I'm OK as I got my Cycling Proficiency Badge :innocent: they didn't train you to block traffic back in the day

  18. Yes but you’re solo bud not in a group, groups and solo cyclist are not the same. Most solo cyclist will stay out of the way for reasons I’ve stated in another reply. Groups just won’t, again for reasons I’ve stated elsewhere.

  19. But not that much longer, even if a car/bike/bus/wagon are traveling at 30mph.

    That’s a ridiculous statement.

  20. In a group they should be Indian file and out of the way - with enough distance between them so as not to cause a rolling road block :)
