Hi, I'm new to the forum (but not to Ducati) and have recently imported my 2002 998 to my home in France. I'm having a bitch of a job registering it as apparently the 'e' number does not match the French prefecture database. The number I have (under the seat) is e1*92/61*00012* which matches the certificate of conformity issued by Ducati, but on another piece of paper I have the same number but with the number 06 at the end. Would be grateful of confirmation as I only have two weeks left to register the bike and the summer is ticking on! My VIN number is ZDMH200AA1B016143. Thanks in anticipation, you cunts.
Hi, Under the seat the E number is e1*92/61*00012, then it has my vin number like yours starting ZDMH200AA...... Then under it vehicle code H200AL Hope this helps, but seems same as yours? Cheers
Hey that's fantastic thanks for the confirmation, it is the same as mine but they just won't accept it in France (despite it being plainly printed on both the registration document and the certificate of conformity). Anyway, screw them. I'll just leave it on its original plates and avoid the speeding fines. Thanks for your help.
Here's a document that explains the approval number. It would appear that the 06 at the end is an optional element relating to the number of extensions on the type approval. Look at page 29-2 https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt...29-Sample-EC-whole-vehicle-approval-plate.pdf
Very interesting document thanks. Basically, here in France they like you to just buy vehicles at over inflated prices from the local dealers only. Anything else and the bureaucrats become very obtuse. I've been to my local prefecture five times now and each time they ask for something different!
Can anyone explain the difference between the different Vehichle Codes H200AL and H200AG. Is one a Monoposto and the other a Biopsto or what ?
Aw, so sweet I was and just a baby. Back in the day before the cruel world ground me down and jaded me, ever so ‘umble Sir!
Also back in the days when Ducatis could be had for the price of a good fish supper (watch this space)!
Thanks, lol. This post from back in 2014 and I gave up in the end as I never ride the things and I can’t see that changing in the short term ha ha!
Hi, very interesting, so what in the picture define it as a Biposto. It it something on the label or only the subframe being grey steel and not Alloy. Does the vehicle code tell you anything. I’ve now see three different codes as H200AE, H200AG and H200AL for 998’s so what is the difference between them? I’m just interested in understanding these bikes if that is possible. TIA.
The seat unit subframe for a monoposto and a biposto are different so this one in the picture has lugs for the pillian foot rest hangers the monoposto doesn't they also look different laid side by side ! What are you trying to work out buddy ?
This is the lug with a bolt in it to hide the hole . you can see in the pictures the tell tail sign of a biposto bike with a conversion using the original subframe the next picture is using the proper Monoposto subframe
The passenger lug is a bit of a give away alright. Im just interested in knowing what the different vehicle codes tells you about the build configuration . Mono / Biposto , engine specs etc.
