https://www.tvsmotor.com/Our-Products/Vehicles Since TVS sell 3 million bikes per year, and have turnover in the £billions, what they have paid for Norton is mere pocket money to them. If they decided to invest as much again in developing the Norton brand, that would still be pocket money.
Let's hope so. Apparently the sale is a 'cash deal' too, meaning no finance involved, so they had this sort of money available at bank. Answering a previous question: Yes I would consider buying a v4rr after all of this, but based on actually seeing that production had started, and again only paying a deposit. Does it really matter if the parent company is not British ? The main thing is the build quality, customer support, and actually receiving one
what would matter to me Is if the staff who were dishonest were still involved, especially the corrupt management who somehow convince the Indians they had Done no wrong! So we will see... skinner is still involved isn’t he? And he’s a total crook looking at some of his Facebook and social posts
Can't see the V4 being revived. Its years behind anything else on the market and has a very limited appeal and lifespan. Norton will end up like Royal Enfield i suspect, lots of heritage stuff. The name alone will see that.
https://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/en/models/adventure/g310gs.html Since the India-made TVS 310 model is sold badged as the "BMW G310GS", a quick and simple step suggests itself. Stick Norton badges on the bike in place of the BMW badges, and sell it as the Norton 310. Simples.
Foriegn owners who exchange Mororcycles in return for money or a thieving lying cheating British barstardo?
The 310 is mega. SWMBO has one and I’ve had some lovely little jaunts on it... quite fancy one of the 310GS and Rally-Raiding it up as a bit of a trail monkey. I hadn’t realised that the 310 was TVS, but if that’s the case then they can potentially do something with this. A TVS Atlas might end up being a nice little thing.
No depositor info yet but an interesting development.....https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/norton-motorcycles/
The engine on the new GS850 Beemer is made in China. ALL new Triumph bikes by the end of the year will be manufactured abroad. It’s just economics. BMW already having quality issues with the 850 engine though. Ooooops.
So we can now look forward to 125cc single cylinder Norton’s with strange angular tanks and names like “Norton mystic laser power ranger 125 RRXi” https://www.superbike.co.uk/article/tvs-prepares-to-buy-norton https://www.tvsmotor.com/Media/Press-Release/tvs-motor-company-completes-
Where do I place my dippy for such a beast of a bike, such a catchy name too. I guess the misty eyed folk will be clambering over each other to get something with a Norton badge.
Interesting point @Pete1950 Yes it's entirely possible the v4 will die, and just the 650 models be revived. That would certainly make more financial sense. Badge engineering is also a possibility, and may well appeal to the eastern markets, where they predominantly sell already. Not so sure it will appeal in Europe, unless of course the price is right, and I would assuming buying the name is to potentially open up this market for them. There were a bunch of Indian bike manufacturers at eicma last year I had never heard of. Putting a known name on them may cause people to at least give them a second look.
