B&q Opening A Few Stores

  1. You can buy anything in b and q now, just click and collect, if you are prepared to queue for a long time that is.

  2. All the builders merchants round my way are shut

  3. most are here as well... whilst we are allowed to work, its fucken hard to get materials. i understand as its so hard to social distance and be safe in a big depot but im sure there are ways around that. so complicated.. but the diyers are mobbing any store that is open. cant blame em i guess. we have a local tool and decorating shop that is really good and has a regular client base, i see many familiar faces when i go there but its not busy as fuck normally. been there 3 times this week to get a hand saw and there was a queue of maybe 50 to 100 peoples outside, all diyers by the looks.
id say that shop will be told to close soon as its not selling just to those that need to use em to make a living .. shame

  4. I've got a couple of months work in an empty house, but can't get materials, very frustrating

  5. sorry to hear that dude. bollox aint it? im to start a new job monday and we have loads of materials for the initial stage but the job is over 2 hours away and are struggling to find accommodation.. but even if we do how long will it last before we need more gear? ive thrown what little coin i have into making this happen but if the wheels come off im fucked. meh, what can ya do?

  6. thanks chizel, I shown this my partner and she now understands that the big B&Q are trade only until further notice. You helped me get around odd jobs, thereby ensuring come Summer tradesmen doing the odd jobs get to eat I get to relax. Win win

  7. Hope it works out for you

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  8. Surely builders merchants should be given provision to supply account holders, seem a tad unfair otherwise.

  9. Banbury one has been open a couple of days, halfords also.

  10. When I tried to access their website the other day they were operating a queuing system that said I would have to wait over an hour to get access. It’s a wonder they even bother to open at all.

  11. I understand from my builder that builders merchants suppliers are where many of the real issues lie, thus merchants are not able to keep on top of outstripped stock or re-order, so decided to close. Plaster is allegedly very hard to come by at present and that which does is at a premium price. He had 20 bags recently which were all used up on his last job and says he could have sold them at 4 times their normal price, had he wanted to.

  12. Do you still need a hand saw chiz? I've got one in the garage that I've looked at a few times over the years, must still work because I've genuinely only ever looked at it ....might be shit though if you're a hand saw pro, and could be rusty.....ok it's probably shit

Yours if you want it dude :upyeah:

  13. Tbf the queuing is just online as when you collect from store they are slick. Or at least my local one was.

  14. again, people stay at home ,do not attempt diy, save builders... you are all only gunna fuck shit up. leave it to the pros.. do some baking or shit like that.....

  15. You’re looking at this wrong.

Let us dumbfucks do diy. We buy stuff from the builders merchants. Attempt the job but ultimately fuck it up.

We then call in a professional or someone like you ;), who then buys more stuff from the builders merchant to put the job right.

    The economy benefits all round.

  16. There is only one builders merchants open by me, trade only, 1 to 2 hour que to get in, they are policing it well anyone in a car gets turned away, I was there yesterday and was ordering my timber and there was a guy at the next serving station asking for 1mm ply the guy serving him basically told him to feck off as he obviously was not trade, guess he borrowed a van. I still cannot see why builders merchants cannot offer a delivery only service for account holders.

  17. hmmm.. maybe.. but we are struggling to get materials coz loads of fucktards are buying everyting.. bet most of em dont even use the stuff. that said ive a load of tiles in the garden for the last 4 years that are meant for the bathroom....

  18. 1mm ply? that shit is like sharks eyebrows....
