  1. not a huge genesis fan but i saw them at western springs in auckland some time in the 80's and they were fucken epic!!! colins had like the worlds biggest drum kit and battered fuck out of it.... western springs, if you have never been there, is an old speedway track that has hills surrounding it and holds maybe 80,000? its probably the best venue ive been to ever... no seats or shit like that. it has huge pine trees on the crest of the hills and bands used to use em like projector screens. pink floyd there was amazing...

  7. Birmingham 1978: “White Punks on Dope” was current. Good, but Petty was more memorable.

  12. we are. not seen petty in concert but weirdly enough im just watchig him on you tube. im at the while my guitar gently weeps with prince of all fellows smashing it.. a good bud of mine, finlay morten (probably spelt his name wrong) is petty's biggest fan and styled himself after him , he missed the mark by a long shot but did get america's country and western best new comer award a few years ago... strange for a jock out of london but it was worth a good few quid in record or download sales as a result...

  13. just coz im bored, smashing pumpkins was probably the worst concert ive ever been to... well, its a toss up between them and guns n roses.. in auckland the crowd threw bottles at gnr it was that shit. i left when the bottles started flying as i was with my girlfriend and fucking her in the back of the van was more appealing than watching her cop a bottle in the face.. at that time. my opinion changed a few years later...

  14. It was a great set in Coventry where they did a mix of the first two albums.
‘I Need to Know’ and ‘American Girl’ were outstanding, and he did the audience thing, getting us to do the first verse of ‘Breakdown’.

  18. Recently found interesting versions of ‘The Chain’ and ‘Golddust Woman’ on Youtube. Early demo versions: a lot more acoustic, and with nice harmonies from Christine MacVie.
