Digital Analogue or Corsa style- your opinions...

  1. Hi All, my current mission is going round bit by bit and redoing the wiring on the bike.

The ultimate aim is to remake the whole loom using modern shielded cables and connectors.

Which got me thinking, after looking at the abortion that is the wiring of my elliot tacho and oil temp gauge.

I'm thinking of going all electronic on the dash, now the question is this, do I keep the three clock design so I have a digital sender-analogue needle dial set up or just go for a digital display - Race technology dash 2 being my weapon of choice as this is the most suitable for roadbike use with hi lo beam, fuel low and indicator idiot lights.

As 900ss-isti, what's your thoughts on the look of the two?

    Sev.

  2. Thanks Luca, it looks a bit too blingtastic for the SS I think, and I don't need the datalogger function which is what cranks the price of this stuff up big time. I'm still angry at the auction I missed for a stack dash, it went for 250!! buggery bollocks.

What would you have, the oe looking theme of the clocks or the digital display panel if you had the choice?

  3. I am a sucker for digital dash with analogy look tacho (like 999) but there is nothing good on market like that. As such for sports bike full digital. I also want new dash for 996 but am not spending 500gbp for a bit of TFT display. I could spend that for dash on ebay but not those you look at.

  4. I know, the 999 dash would be ideal but its all the grief of wiring it in as its already kind of bespoke.

Looks like it'll have to be the latter part of the year when the race season finishes and people junk their race cars and bikes, and yes, 500 is just stupid. The only one I can think of is the Stack system but again you're looking at stupid money, and the problem with the fleabay ones is that the seller often doesn't include the sensors for speed, temp, etc. so by the time you hunt for those you're back at silly dosh.

I saw a couple of the corse marelli units like on the 916's and 888's and ferrari F1's, but again stupid money for what amounts to a tft display as there were no sensors included.

It was one of these Stack dashes that went for 240 with all pickups, which is why i'm kicking myself for mising it! doh!

  5. On paper yes, in reality I got rx2n (different shape same functions). Manual tacho needle failed after 15 months (led still works). Left button soon after. Right button after small off. It is not that water proof or vibration proof if it was it would be perfect. My not waterproof inside car lcd for parking camera is more waterproof then that dash ;)
