I can remember when it went up to £1 gallon & dad putting 5* in the old Rover and petrol rationing - I’m old
In the 70’s it nearly happened twice with ration books issued but I don’t think used , queues were horrendous and you could only buy so much bit like flour & toilet rolls now
Id guess that it stimulates demand because normally law abiding key work commutes on now empty motorways have gone from 70-75mph cruising speeds to ‘I wonder how fast this thing actually does go - and if there really is a electronic speed limiter fitted’? Obviously just surmising what MAY be happening...
I've got a '70s ration book somewhere, found it in a file with purchase invoices for every car my Dad bought going back to the' 50s when we cleared his house out after he died.
4 coupons a month with 6 months worth in a book. My god, the old man kept some crap and now I've got a load of it. Thought there were a couple of older invoices but it looks like 1965 is the oldest, I can remember going down with him to pick it up.
Nope it’s happening, whilst driving back from work heard on the radio last week Police clocked a car at 150 mph. Then later in the week car undertook me near spaghetti junction inside lane I was in the outer lane reckon close to a ton. I think some are thinking the Feds are too busy elsewhere.
No idea mine doesn’t no matter what site I investigate for research purposes, is your phone set to silent so you’re not interrupted perchance.
