  3. His moral is lower than a snakes belly but his condition has stabilized at day 9, he's on oxygen not a lot and his stats are good ! He's no appetite which seems part of the virus and just very weak but holding his own ! hopefully he won't get any worse ! Thanks paul

  4. R??? Not S engines you mean :)

  5. I think the 998S has the 'old' 996R engine in it (which was 998cc) ie the deep sump, sandcast, crankcases with different internals. The 'standard' 998 doesn't have the deep sump engine. I'll check.

  6. Only people who have 998S bikes believe they have 996R Engines :p

Not sure if this guy knows his onions or not but he says:

    Ducati 998S

The new Testastretta engine finds its way into the std models for the 2002 model year. The 998S that everyone except those in the USA gets has the same engine as the ‘01 996R. The ’02 998R has a bigger bore/shorter stroke 999 engine.

The S is the replacement of the 996S model, itself a sort of de-spec’d replacement of the 996SPS series. So the 998S comes with a 998 Strada chassis and the hot engine. The way most people like it.

  9. Agree but why spend the time/money on it, when its just not an MV, atleast he can tick that build of his list :(

  10. 996R had different internals / different bore and stroke (short stroke engine) / different compression... it's the same engine as in yes it's a Testastretta but no it isn't a 996R engine - (disclaimer: if the specs are incorrect ;)) and yes, Brad knows his onions: he uses California Cycleworks products :)

  12. An excerpt from Falloon’s book below. I interpret it that the 998S has the 996R testestretta engine with deep sump, same bore/ stroke/ valves/ cams & everything but the 998 has a detuned shallow sump version of the testestretta. Maybe I’m reading it wrong.
