  2. Just checked mine where it's currently residing, similar to many others at this time, under a cover in the garage. It's #056, a Superlight V.
Carbs are Mikuni's, standard ones for the age as far as I know, certainly unchanged in the time I've had it (over 19 years).
Mine was first registered just after the start date of the then new 1996 'P' registration on August 9th.

  3. wow . apparently mine was originally fitted with a webber dcoe that must of been horrible to live with,

  4. you sould register with the superlight reg . they 53, 54 , 58 no 56 another found !

  5. I don't have knowledge of these but I don't think they are particularly well regarded. The ones fitted to yours are flatslides now?

  6. keihin FCR41 flatslides , it runs faultlessly. it really does. i have managed to loose one of the big fixings on the back seat bit like a giant scaffold bolt .

  7. I swithered a little when I did a rebuild a couple of years ago following engine problems as to going standard or uprated (944, flatslides etc) but time, money skill level etc meant standard replacement engine was the chosen route for me.
Intake noise is one of the great features of these bikes, with flatslides it must sound like its turned up to 11 !

  8. yes it does have a bit of an intake bark , but NO CHOKE ,not even provision for fitting such a thing, so if its not fair to hot weather it can be a stinker to start !

  9. i love this bike . its fast . its sod all other considerations fast . no fucking cup holders , sat navs. ash trays or what-ever
my sons say it lacks sophistication , i say that. i also have a low mileage 95, 916 which is supposedly a superior bike
i quietly prefer my little 900.!

  10. Nice pair !
A 916 or variation of is one of the few bikes I could see myself pairing with the 900SL / exchanging for.
The simplicity of the oil/air-cooled motor is a great attraction for me - fewer parts, simple electronics and no coolant-related issues to worry about.

  11. the 916 is defiantly faster and has more prescience ,but i would swear every time i ride on it im a marked man the wankers seem to come from any direction to have me off the thing . shame really.
