749 749/999 Black Swing Arm Chain Adjusters

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by RickyX, Apr 21, 2020.

  1. Incorrect. The small piece is used to secure the adjusters on the swingarm (in addition to the bolt in the front).

  2. Oh.
My trackbike ones don’t have that bit. They are only secured by the single bolt at the front into the swing arm.
    Can somebody confirm please.

  3. There are two versions - one that does not have the holes for the small parts and one with the holes. The lifters mount on the same holes. Mine (with the small part not visible):

I'll see if I have a pic of the other version.

EDIT: These may not be Gilles after all. Maybe an early replica...

  5. ok, guys, I need to know if I need to make these... I don't want to make something that doesn't work. the set I have to reverse engineer doesn't have the extra plates so I assume they just locate with the front bolt on the later fabricated swing arm? correct?
Also, the better question is do you really need them if they did have them.... it will add more cost to the job to make tiny parts like this.

  6. @jusutus do you have a photo showing the parts installed and where they fit please.

I am not sure they are needed myself.
Unfortunately, I can’t offer my ones up on my bike as they are at Jamie’s!
Not sure what they would do as the adjuster is clamped laterally by the spindle and restrained longitudinally by the bolt at the fwd end.

  7. once the spindle is torqued up its not going anywhere.

  8. Don't have a proper pic right now. They keep the adjusters securely in place when the axle is removed. The single bolt up front doesn't keep them perfectly flat on the swingarm. But yes - not really needed.

  9. Cool  is that my set :innocent:

  10. Excellent - if that’s all they do then we don’t need them.
Not even sure I can see how they would work as the don’t appear to engage with the swing arm.

  11. They do with the small claw on them. It touches the opposite side of the swingarm and kind of locks the adjuster in place.

  14. Careful what you wish for - there could be loads of things such as rearsets, bar risers etc etc.

  15. I need a custom top yoke making :eyes:

  16. can i be really boring and ask what machine your using and what controller, having spent a large portion of my life stood in front of various CNC mills and lathes i still find it all very interesting.

  17. If you'll ship to the US, I'd like a black set. I'm happy to provide a deposit. Thanks!

  18. 916 frame to 1098 swingarm flat link rocker arms were popular.
