The Cyclists/ebikers

  1. And about the only 2 wheeled action to be had, good fun though.

  2. Im 6'2" but even 60 is a little big, 58 is perfect but sometimes you just have to take what's out there.
I've amassed enough ebay stuff now, all my bikes are finished except 1, the Pinarelly Prologo, this is a before shot, now stripped down due to a crappy paint job and color that does nothing for that lovely frame.
    And my Holdy "rust bucket".

  4. An evil instrument of torture, I tried one once at my local bike shop in their training room just too boring for me. Each to their own be true though.

  6. Oh, how I would like an Atom, but all the spare change is going into the Ducati Monster pot at the moment (as it has for the last 18 months).

Here's a pic of one of my pushrods. 2003 Litespeed Vortex frame (6:4 titanium) (48cm), 3T Funda Pro fork, Dura Ace groupset, Yokozuna cables, Speedplay zeros, Specialized PowerPro saddle and a pair of shit Mavic Aksiums. I originally had a beautiful pair of Mavic R-Sys wheels, but they had issues with the carbon spokes so they got recalled and these were the temporary replacement.

The frame originally had internal headset bearings, but the head tube cracked in 2009 and after a bit of faff Litespeed replaced it with an external bearing version - you'd never know it had been reworked the craftsmanship is so good.

  7. I have my phone sitting under the iPad with either a podcast, album or Netflix going. Helps with the boredom on low intensity laps.
Zwift can take your mind off it too but the monthly fee is abit steep.....

  8. Very nice!

  9. I’ll post my Litespeed up eventually, Ti is the best material IMO for a pushiron. I see you use Speedplays you find them easy to clip in/out?

  10. Speedplays are the best thing since sliced bread. I changed from the Shimano (SL-R? system) in 2001 after my knees started giving me jip and not looked back. The float is massive - like standing on wet ice and the clip-in/out is very positive. The zeros have a travel limiter on the cleat so you can dial in as much/little float as you want.

I agree about titanium being a great material. I also had a Litespeed Saber Tri frame which I foolishly sold when I bought a Cervélo P3.

  11. I have a couple of Ti, Steels and owned Carbons. My go to ATM is my Steel singlespeed that’s comfortable and quick slow enough for riding with my lad. My go to for events is my Litespeed so comfortable no road buzz and so much more durable than carbon.

Noted your speed play comment I’m after a set for my lad. Thanks

  12. I use time pedals for the same reason, my left knee didn’t enjoy look keos, the float on the time pedals are great and they are the best looking imo

  13. When I was growing up, one of my friends had an Eddy Merckx when the rest of of had some generic 'racer'

He always had the best of everything and that bike stuck in my mind. Very nice. :)

  14. I have the old pro, as We’re on lockdown I’ve set off on the 100 mile sportive plan so pretty much riding everyday, this mornings session was a bit stiff and I ended up riding through 2 of the intervals and tomorrow’s session of another hour is tougher still!! I’m 3 weeks in. Enjoying it though and got my efficiency up above 70% which is a nice improvement over my “once in a blue moon” sessions. Btw have you seen the 5k Wattbike challenge? Some loon covered it in 5m 32 :)

  15. Nice! They can really take it out of you, I try to stay in the ergo mode but end up switching to the heated, as my legs start to say no lol, 5.32 wow!

  16. I've always had a love/hate relationship with turbo trainers. When I had a tacx flow I couldn't sit on it for much more than 50mins before I was bored stupid. I started using sufferfest videos and that really helped, but the Flow gave up and I've not had chance (dosh) to replace it. I recon doing zwift might make it more bearable nowadays though.

100miles is a nice goal. I did the Bentley 100tt a couple of times as part of ironman training - 5 laps up and down the A31 near Bentley, just mind bending purgatory. I managed to get under 5hours, but normal club testers we're in the low 4's and the winner lapped me twice pushing something like a 75x12 with a buckle in his disk wheel.

  17. I’ve always hated them, you have to be hard core to suffer. They’re not only boring for me I find that static seated position really uncomfortable. I tried numerous times but just gave up in the end. What Ironman country/city did you do bud?

  18. I've done Barcelona and Copenhagen, plus Antwerp 70.3

  19. Not a bad brace I looked into doing Copenhagen but looked too spendy for me. I just did them for chits and giggles some of my club mates got heavily into it can be a real spendy hobby.

  20. Few decent achievements over the years in fact, popped up on my Facebook this morning that 10 years ago I’d Already been in the saddle for an hour at 7:00am, group of mates going for Coast to coast (Blackpool to Scarborough) 134 miles in a day, since then I’ve done Etap Caledonia twice 82 miles with my best time of 4hrs 19m, there’s a bloody big mountain in the middle too :) also done london to Paris, birmingham to Paris, birmingham Velo last year and numerous works charity rides in France and U.K. :)
