Importing A Used 1989 Honda From Germany. What's Involved To Reg In Uk

  1. Any one done this recently?

  2. Importing from the EU is easy, as taxes will already have been paid. Basically just fill out the 'apply for a v5' form and send it off with the German log book, road tax payment, mot and a few other bits it will ask for.

I've done a couple from Europe and one from Australia (which was a bit tougher) but the process is pretty simple

    What bike is it?

  3. Cool thanks, so i can ride to a pre arranged mot with no number plate as long as insured? I need to sort out kph to mph spedo & get a left dip headlight lens yeah?

  4. You can as far as I’m aware be prosecuted for no plate, you can insure on the chassis number.

  5. I got insurance on vin as you say, cant apply for a reg until i have mot i understand.

  6. Can i get an mot under the current restrictions?

  7. You can if you find a mot station open, but the paperwork would be an unknown. Maybe with the lockdown DVLA aren’t so busy and you might get it quicker or they’re on skele crew and personal importing isn’t priority for them.

  8. Germany?? It will be left hand drive!!

Sorry il get my coat :D

  9. And a NOVA declaration too with logbook, without logbook you need dating certificate for it. Yamaha charge 50 big ones for a DC, not sure Hondas charge or you can get the VJMC to date it for you. HTH

  10. I already swapped the throttle from the left bar to the right side...
