So my mono seat which I have in the shed is worth 5k That bike’s too much of a bargain, something’s not right. I could buy that, swap the exhausts <1000 and seat <500 and subframe <600 and have an early SP for <7600
you know that sad feeling that you get when you see a dog that's been abused by it's owners and just left in a yard somewhere... i'm half tempted, i've a spare screen, spare wheels, only expense is sorting the fairings (and the other bits of cosmetic shite on there, clutch cover etc), anyone think it's a really bad idea??
I've done a bit more checking and the 95 SP, (of which 600 were made so not that limited; c1400 'regular' 748's were made that year) is really no different in spec to the 99MY 748 I presently have. It has slightly wilder cams which increase the Bhp from 98 to 104 and should have an Ohlins rear shock. I say should, because the one for sale doesn't so I'm even more inclined to think its a scam with a dodgy forged letter from Ducati

Yes I thought that too, I actually have all the bits to do exactly that just lying around on the ground! (I also saw a 748R on eBay for £7799 so thought, why bother.)
I asked a few questions of the seller of the 748'SP' and whilst I've yet to see the letter from Ducati confirming it is one, I strongly suspect it isn't as the engine number is ZDM916W4*014326. So with an early frame number of 844, which corresponds with the 95 year, IMO, someone's blown the engine on a standard BiP and then dropped a later 916 unit into the frame.
Mine has this, just FYI. I don’t have any interest in the bike that’s for sale. Also, who converts these to biposto spec? Seriously! Also also, confirmation from Ducati factory only. The letter will likely be from a franchised dealer, many of which can’t tell shit from pudding!
Yeah, that's the same as mine, almost to the number, this one's a big bits, not an SP, despite his claim to have a letter from Ducati UK confirming it as an SP. I'm no longer interested.
I was going to sell mine (sorry Rich @ Louigi Moto, lol), I think I will keep it and rebuild it if I find myself at home over the next few months. I will start by cleaning the engine, maybe!
If you are willing, don’t mind the risk and have some parts already available go for it, if I wasn’t so concerned with how long this imprisonment would be I’d have hit BIN at first sight. You can even have the joy of bringing it back to it’s former glory. We’d require updates and a rebuild thread though.
Has he just dropped the price? It’s now £3000 no offers. Could be a mega bargain. Or a dog. But worth a shot for that money.
yes i've just been messaging him and asked for a vid of it running, i'm not as expert as most of you fellas but i think there's a bit of engine work needed on it and so made him an offer....
