916 Lock Wire

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by dave slowley, Apr 24, 2020.

  1. my 916 a early 95 has be been extensively lock wired , any one else's done like this ?

  2. It is common practice for someone with a track background to wire lock various fixings which is a requirement for club racing upwards. It does not mean the bike has been tracked though. One of the mechanics at the workshop I use builds race bikes and routinely uses wire locking on sump bolts and oil filters on any of my bikes that he services. Andy

  3. Most track bikes use a lot of lock wire, road bikes tend to be a cosmetic addition.

  4. I use lock wire on the rear wheel clips and that’s about it.
