Lithium Ion Battery Fire On My 1198 !

  1. Glad you and bike are ok and good you are learning about your bike now no matter the reason. One thing I thought I’d mention is maybe give a shout out who the dealer is? It’s good to know which dealers don’t try to wangle out of their obligations and give good customer service as most on here can name a bad dealer or garage.

  2. Magneti Marelli use a generic Chinese design branded with their name don't they? :eyes: What cells do they use

  3. Brain cells hopefully! :p

  4. Go do some research :p

  5. That would involve using mine!

  6. Or not o_O

  7. It’s a risk I’m not prepared to take and in any case I’m too busy now buying exotic bike parts. That is much more entertaining. :p

  8. Have you been dumped again :bucktooth:

  9. She is still in Bali so who knows? Fingers crossed though so I can spend my money on bikes without her looking over my shoulder and complaining.
I have just been offered the following: 30121031A and 30121332A (996R and 999R complète cylinder heads 200€ apiece, NOS). No need for them but very nice looking doorstops and I have already bought a set of MS Production air tubes for 100€. It beats staring out the window!
(I will stop with the thread hijack now.)

  11. I had a Chinese copy Dyson handheld battery explode into
my chest as I went to switch the charger off. It had started fizzing and popping.
These things are like those multiple bombs they used in Iraq. You don’t just get one explosion, you get several as each cell explodes.
They are also like fire bombs you can’t put out, as they spray burning material everywhere.
The heat blast just vaporised the fleece I was wearing but luckily it didn’t penetrate the cotton shirt underneath, so the only scorched skin was my cheeks and chin. My glasses saved my eyes from damage.
Li batteries are part of modern life but when they explode they are very, very scary.

  12. Just like Russian women, trust me on that!

  14. Off topic @Billywiztheelder but is that a quad lock you’re using there? Been thinking about getting one of them, any good?

  15. Just to understand, is the battery or the cables that catched fire?
I am only asking because a bucket of water won't put off a lithium battery fire, even a medium sized fire extinguisher would struggle.

  16. Yea, just to clarify, it was the wires that caught fire, as above, they melted at the junction and somehow with the heat, just went up in flames...very very crap....if I had not been outside a shop, I would have to have stood back and watched the whole thing blow up...lucky ish situation I guess

  17. As in Russian women are "hot" ?
I reckon for exploding....Irish women....Trust me on that....The wife is the ginger version
