Thanks ET, I thought it might be useful to deliver as I work in a huge building shared by many many like minded businesses , so I wanted to possibly network with anyone, it was almost like the Marie Celeste but literally did speak to a couple of business owners on site, and it got me out of the house, and my son gave me a hand, got him out of the house.
Both! I was told at lockdown sorry sir it’s redundancy, I asked to be furloughed which they duly did, with redundancy at the end of furlough period.
Well TBH not many positions will be around that exactly suit my profile having been MD at places etc and aged 58 now. So let’s be realistic. I love my trade and would like to stay in it but unlikely at that level. What’s now important to me is who I work with more than job status and money, without being silly! I enjoy helping tutor other employees to enjoy their work and be extract the max potential, same ethos with my motorcycle tuition that I do too. It’s very rewarding to have people become very positive about things because you have shown them it’s possible to be much better than they ever thought and it wasn’t painful. Otherwise might end up driving the school bus! Currently volunteering with Bike Shed to do delivery by bike during this horrible time.
Just back from Grimsby with this little beauty then learn of another Leeds legend passing which is naff and unexpected...RM465 below I can’t imagine trying to ride it when it’s up and running. Taking it to Leicester tomorrow after a Derby bike collection then onto Birmingham, Evesham, Exeter,Torquay, Southampton,Guildford, ilford, Tottenham, Enfield, Uxbridge, coventry, Lincoln hopefully Leeds by Friday evening
Not once but I am a delivery driver recently delivered a bike to a nurse who was going to use it for work, fence panels, lawn mower, lot of bikes, power washer, motor home awning, furniture, exhaust pipes, heaps of boxes you name I been shifting it but it keeps a lot of people at home I guess. I’m generally alone in the van and tomorrow unfortunately sleeping in it at some service station or wherever, it’s not glamorous but not complaining and hopefully I’m helping people, a lot seem very grateful which is nice been getting more tips too. Oh and moving some gear from a foster home in Enfield and in Uxbridge to Lincoln so some important stuff been moved amongst some not so important stuff.
Bit of a mixed day so far. An Evotech horizontal head protector for the Multistrada arrived this morning by UPS as promised. Got an email from the workshop, the Multistrada will be delivered later today having had the fork bushes and seals and the headstock bearings sorted out and MoT’d. On the down side, the hotel in Barcelona I booked and paid for to go to the MotoGP, wants 100% of the total cost to cancel, despite Spanish boarders being closed to all non Spanish travellers. Travel insurer is taking the ‘you need to get your credit card provider to refund the cost’ stance which I have a feeling might just be illegal (?) and the credit card provider call centre has at least a 20 to 30 minute wait to answer your call. Oh yes, it’s raining quite heavily so even if I could reconcile a decision to go for a ride on my bike, I’m not. Still, Cold beer in the fridge and a pasta bake just come out of the oven for lunch.
