Just noticed the member map - very small percentage of members have filled it in I guess? C'mon peoples
I think you just explained the very-small-percentage bit Exige, should be under 'Quick Links' (and have hinted this before).
I like the idea and it most certainly is a good way of finding other members near to us. There is a reason i have never put myself on it though. It's far too easy for any thieving little scrots to just look up where a nice Ducati is located and help themselves to it at any time they feel they want to. As someone that has already had one 1098s stolen, i have no intention of having the replacement nicked. I will add, the stolen bike was not on the members map either, so i'm not blaming it. Just pointing out the potential risk.
I dunno if it makes much difference Chris. You and I live virtually metres apart, yet we've still only met once; and on another forum that does not have a members' map, and members all over the country and abroad, I've met nearly all of them. The forum itself is the important bit.
The easy answer is don't put the pin exactly on your house - put it a couple of miles away. Mine is on a petrol station forecourt where I often meet mates for rideouts.
as a result of this thread I did go to the map and found two more local members - one close to my teenage stamping ground and will bear them in mind next time for the Boxhill meet - that was useful surely? - there's a lot of people out there who might not even post/want to post on a Forum but 'registering' on a map (and therefore contact-able) could be the first way of breaking the ice etc.
naw, surrounded by villages round here, half the time the delivery drivers cant find me lol, might hear me though chris, thermis mark the spot, but do think the members map is a good idea, but just general area of where you live
